I’m assuming no LVP in the T046R, hence the included protected Wuben cell??

Anyone want to suggest an alternate cell that they know will fit? Is the Wuben cell a known and trusted rewrap?

I’ve tried out the Wuben LT35 and Wuben L50 flashlights which include a Wuben ABE2600 protected 2600mAh 18650 in the flashlight package.
My guess is the TO46R will also come with the same Wuben ABE2600 18650 (I’m not sure about the TO10R, what kind of battery will be included though).

From my previous tests of the Wuben ABE2600 (using MC3000, discharge @ 0.50A to 2.50v cut-off, I got 2600+ to 2700+ mAh capacity, so it seems to be pretty accurate). The protection circuit of the Wuben ABE2600 trips at around 6A (similar to the Liitokala protected NCR18650B that I also have).

(Now it’s unlike the Sofirn 18650 — I’ve also bought Sofirn flashlights with packaged 18650 from the AE store, there are 2 types of Sofirn 18650s bundled with their flashlights, I can’t seem to determine when they’ll send one or the other — I’ve gotten Sofirn 18650 that’s labeled “2800mAh” and is a protected 18650, and I’ve also gotten Sofirn 18650 that’s labeled “3000mAh” and is an unprotected 18650. (The Sofirn protected “2800mAh” 18650 also trips at around 6A current)

Doing capacity tests of those Sofirn “2800mAh” protected and “3000mAh” unprotected 18650 batteries, using the same procedure above, MC3000 discharge @ 0.50A to 2.50v cut-off; I’m only getting 2600+ to 2700+ mAh capacity — practically similar capacity as the Wuben “2600mAh” 18650s, which are at least labeled properly and correctly).

There’s LVP at 2.4V.

Yes, I would definitely like the lights to be tested prior to being sent. I am concerned about the lack of updates regarding the testing especially since the expected May 21st ship date has arrived.

Right!

I guess it’s time for a short status update..

Samples:
First lights are coming out of the factory and the samples will be shipped to me tomorrow morning. They should arrive here at the beginning of next week. Hope maukka is available to test them very soon after that.

I asked Wuben not to ship any lights before maukka verifies the samples => Current estimate for the shipping date is late next week.

Payments:
Wuben told me they have received roughly half of the payments. If you haven’t paid the lights you reserved, please do so before next Monday!

Remaining lights:
There are still some lights left: Anyone can still join the GB and existing participants can reserve more lights. “1st come, 1st served.” => PM me to make the reservation.

Just curious (this may have been brought up before) Since the TO10R tube will fit the TO46R head can Wuben sell some TO10R tubes as an add on accessory?

In order to make a good long/shorty “convertible” light we’d have to buy both lights and then have a pretty much worthless TO10R head. Buying both would be cost prohibitive anyways.

Since they were nice enough to sell the MCPCB w/LEDs as accessory, have they been asked about the shorty tubes?

I understand they made the TO10R driver different to suit 16340, but we can bore the shorty tube for 18350 and use Aspire/Vapecell, probably too much to ask but even better if Wuben would bore them and do a special run of the bored tubes as an add on accessory, otherwise at least offer the stock TO10R tubes separate and we can bore them ourselves.

Unfortunately, this is not possible. I tried, but Wuben won’t agree on selling “incompatible/unsafe” tubes.

46r charge and discharge current are a bit too much for a non-IMR 16340, causing a risk -> they also glue the head of 46r to prevent body swap.

If we buy both lights, crack open the glued head and bore the tube for 18350, Wuben won’t be held accountable if anything bad happens.. Smile

Okay so I received my stock TO46R today. I ordered this before I came across this group buy. Anyway, first impressions! Really like this light despite the cool white in its stock form. About the same form factor as a BLF A6 but only a bit wider around the head due to heat sinking. The quality is top notch and the UI isn’t too bad either. Low mode of 7 lumens is a bit too high but I can live with it. I would recommend using a protected cell as I tested it with both types and it seems the unprotected cell doesn’t get compressed as hard and might increase resistance or disconnect when accidentally dropped. It’s obviously designed to be used with a protected cell because it comes with one and a protected cell sits flush with the end of the barrel.

It’s a great light and I highly recommend everyone to be patient. A high CRI NW version of this light will definitely be worth the wait.

Armytek Prime C1 Pro, Armytek Prime C2 Pro, Armytek Tiara C1 Pro, Astrolux MF01 Mini, BLF Q8, BLF A6, BLF FW1A, BLF FW3A, BLF FW3C, BLF LT1, Convoy L6, Convoy C8+ , Convoy S3, Convoy M21A, Convoy S11, Emisar D4, Fireflies E07, Jaxman E2L, Lumintop EDC18, Manta Ray C8.2 long version, Olight S1R Baton II special edition series, S2R Baton II, Nitecore HC65, Olight H1R Nova.

Status update: All GB lights are manufactured and ready to ship. Samples are traveling with DHL and are already in Germany -> they should arrive in Finland already tomorrow!

Reminder: Have you paid your reservations already?

Ps. There are still a couple of lights unclaimed. Send me a message to make a reservation.

So, that means “ready for shipping”, just pending for Maukka to test them. If Maukka gives a “PASSED” result for the CRI test, that’s the time the shipping will receive the “GO” signal. (hoping the result will not be anything other than a Passed result).

Thumbs up.

Yes. Exactly like that. Maukka will get the lights tomorrow, so we can expect the “PASSED” (“maukka approved”) stamp at latest on Wednesday.

NOTE: Please remember to add all required info when paying! Roughly ten members missed their phone number, which is necessary for shipping. If you forgot something, Wuben will contact you using your PayPal email => Please check your email and reply with the missing info in timely manner. Thanks!

I just paid for a 2nd TO46R from this GB (my friend is getting the other one as a birthday gift Cool )… I already have the stock TO46R and I love it, although I believe this NW high CRI version will replace it as my EDC light. If you haven’t paid yet, you’re gonna miss out on a great light. Thanks to everyone who made this GB possible.

Samples are here! They were randomly selected and shipped with full retail packaging. Cool

To my eyes, the desired color temperature and CRI definitely are there. maukka will get the lights tomorrow -> we know for sure after his tests.

[Tint shift is not significantly better than with 1st samples, but as we know: DC-fix will cure that]

D-C-Fix “Frost” https://d-c-fixna.com/allproducts/6hapqlia3lxwpr9spvzhvq6d3s1cuc – but almost any non-adhesive thick film with frost/fog effect should work well. My current sheet is probably a clone from LIDL.

This is only for making the beam more floody, or is it for color correction as well?
About how much will this reduce the output?
