It’s very easy to swap the emitters, unless they decided to glue the bezel in the new batch. You won’t get much more visible brightness though.

This is only for making the beam more floody, or is it for color correction as well? About how much will this reduce the output?

For normal outdoor usage, the light is good as is.

For photography, indoor usage, or just hunting white walls, it might be a good idea to apply DC-Fix. This will not only make the beam smoother and floodier, but also reduce the tint shift (towards green on the edge of spill).

do you think, its possible to change the leds for brighter? xpl…or so..i mean home custom

Would be interesting to try XP-L2, but unfortunately, that would probably require also driver changes for any major gain. Has anyone tried this on his TO46R?

Where do you buy DC-fix, and what type Thanks Robert

You don’t need DC fix. These are standard Carclo optics. the slightly frosted 10508, and more frosted 10509 are what this light uses. The light comes with the clear Carclo 10507. I tried a 10508 in mine, and it smooths out the beam beautifully.

Thank for the updates on the process =the=! It is now closer to get the lights on our hands Wink The light and emitters are paid!
Do we have to send you any kind of information or the info we sent to Wuben is enough?

Hum, about this, I am not sure if – in terms of beam – the XP-L2 would be better! Brighter, for sure, but maye not better! I have 2 Sofirn lights that arrived with XP-L2 leds. One seemed more tending to 5000K and the other was a bit higher (5500 or 5700???).
However, both produce and yellowish and greenish tint shift similar to the one on the stock XP-G3 these Wuben lights have.

So…I am not sure if XP-L2 would be a good choice. However, a Luxeon V 4000 K, I guess that would be an interesting bet for these lights! No major shifts (or none), and a quite pleasant beam!!

But now let’s see how the leds we’re going to receive behave and that is the most important thing right now Silly

Tint graph in different modes. My sample of the TO10R is pretty good in the hotspot, but needs d-c-fix to even out the beam. I also added a tint measurement with d-c-fix and a Lee Zircon minus green filter on high for the TO46R. That’s an easy solution for the XP-G3 and makes the beam look quite pleasing.

Did you happen to measure the lumen output? I’m wondering the output of TO46R in Turbo.

Approximate numbers, not exactly at 30 sec nor did the usual sphere calibration routine, but should be within 5%.
1100 lumens for the TO46R
630 lumens for the TO10R

I swapped original Cree XP-G3 (low CRI and acid-rainbow, but buyed as hi-cri) to HI-CRI Samsung LED LH351D 4000K 90 CRI. Now light very smooth and more wide.

Original:

Now:

Can any one take a beamshot from new XP-G3 with real hi-cri?

The high CRI XP-G3 beam looks identical to the low CRI one on a white wall.

And I agree, the LH351D makes the light much better.

Samples have been approved by maukka and all GB lights are ready to ship! Have you paid yours already? If not, please do so at latest on this week’s Saturday (2018-06-02)!

Ps. We have some 10r’s and emitter boards still left. PM me if interested. (all 46r’s are reserved, but I can get you on the waiting list if someone would be crazy enough to bail out.. Silly )

Better if you are ok with a considerably warmer tint?
Besides the Cree’s fried egg beam (that you only see on a white walls) there really that much of a difference?

Will swapping to LH351D give higher lumen output?

I bought this light because it’s 5000K and HI CRI, I do like 4000K but mostly for indoors, for outdoors I prefer 5000K because 4000K Cree (XPL 5A) is slightly too warm/yellow for me. But in MaksVasilev’s photos the 4000K Samsung appears even more white than the 5000K Cree, however I’m not sure the photos show a accurate representation of the color (and he has the WB set different between the 2 photos).

In real life how does the LH351D 4000K compare to a Cree 4000K or this XP-G3 5000K as far as color is concerned? (overall color disregarding the tint shift)

Doing a bit of research here on my questions in my last post (above) I found maukka’s post in the LH351D group buy thread.

Compared to the (Actually low CRI) Cree the Samsung appears to have a bit of a pink-ish hue and does seem considerably warmer. But again I’m not sure the photos show a accurate representation of the color. In comparison to MaksVasilev’s photos here you see a very noticeable difference in tint color. Also the lumen outputs were equal.

maukka wrote:
Received my 3x LH351D today. Installed them inside a Wuben TO46R. They’re really nice. No tint shift to speak of in the clear triple optics. A simple filter will perfect the tint on most modes if you need to be on the BBL. On higher currents it’s already superb.

And what’s amazing. It offers Nichia like beam quality but reaches output comparable to the XP-G3. I measured equal lumens before and after the swap. Although one of the original XP-G3s was dedomed so didn’t probably live to its true potential.

White Balans are different and marked on photo.

This photo on same WB = 5000K (left: XP-G3 6000+K, right: With 4000K Samsung LED):

Since this can be easily modded (not glued), can these be sold without the emitter boards? I’m thinking of buying some presoldered noctigon emitter boards with the 219B 9080 from Clemence and put it in there. The 0.0049 DUV Maukka measured is on the TO46R is too high/green for my liking. But I like the two button UI and usb recharge on this nice looking host.

Not possible. Wuben simply won’t agree on selling hosts or parts. Sorry!

Oh. Besides the 90CRI emitters, is anything else different/improved on this version?

90+CRI instead of 70CRI
and
5000K instead of 6500K

Other specs are the same than original.
