[Nitecore TM03 proprietary 18650] Is it compatible with any smart charger?

The TMO3’s proprietary 18650 has both negative and positive at one end and am concerned that if I use a charger for normal cells it may explode or short circut let alone even being compatible.

Do I need to use a Nightcore charger or can I use any smart charger? In particular the Xtar MC2 charger?

Thanks alot

That charger will work just fine, It only charges at a half an amp for one battery or a quarter of an amp for two batteries. It may seem like it takes quite a while to charge but it will charge them just fine. I like the LiitoKala chargers for just a few bucks more. I also have a Nitecore I4 I found for 16.99 I think on IMR’s website.

Thankyou I am also concerned that because the proprietary cell has both negative and positive at one end it may explode or short circut if I use a charger for normal cells?

Yes it will work and charge just fine. That battery has a built in protection circuit that will keep you from damaging the cell by over discharge, over charging, or polarity reversal. Just charge it and install the battery button side first and all will be well and bright. Very bright with that light.

Check this link out too if you aren’t real familiar working with Lithium Ion cells. It’s worth a read. Lithium-ion battery safety 101

Thankyou. Youd think that being a 2800 lumen at peak flashlight that it will need an unprotected cell to achieve that many lumens

I would think so as well. I am by no means a expert on matters such as these. That light may very well work with any unprotected cell. Don’t know if it’s one of those things where they are scaring you into only buying their batteries for crazy prices.

I use Li-500 to charge the TM03 batteries, so far no issues.

Any nitecore charger will do according to nitecore. Once you see how it makes contact you’ll see which chargers you can use

I have charged my TM03 batteries without any issues in my Nitecore SC4 and Nitecore i4 chargers
