issues with 26650s in Opus 3100?

Anyone have issues with the above?

Got a bunch of LK 26650s that I forgot I even had(!), and just wanted to test the capacity. Found out the hard way that I can only stuff 2 at a time in it, not all 4 at once like I can do in my almighty Miboxer. Then again, the almighty Miboxer only does capacity testing in slot 4, so that’s 1 at a time, vs 2 at a time in the Ope. Oh, well…

So I load ’em up, but there’s no contact. Ironically, not at the positive end (flattops), but at the negative end. Had to slightly bend the sliding tabs forward to make contact, and that’s precarious at best.

Is this an outlier, or has anyone else had issues like this?

And damn, that fan’s noisy, yet there’s hardly any breeze coming out.

I used to have to bend the negative ends to make contact with my old crappy UltraFire charger. Never had that problem with the ’3100 though.
I made a holder to do 4 “D” cells for my Opus

D Cell carrier for the OPUS BT-C3100

Check out the Accupower IQ 338XL. I’m currently using that and can charge 4 26650 cells on all 4 ports + analyze them. Charge rate can also be maxed out at 1500ma on all ports.

I just figured that being stretched to the end-of-travel and only gripping near the edge of the cell vs more towards the middle, was bending it outwards. Probably the shrinkwrap was acting juuuuust enough as a spacer to keep the relatively flat pad from making contact. The perfect storm of no-contact. :confounded:

Right now I got ’em going, and am taking care to not even breathe on the whole setup.

Fwiw, these are the blue-wrap LKs, not the black ones. Both tested to 3.6V almost exactly, within a few mV of each other. Both topped off at about the exact same time, and are running neck’n’neck in the discharge cycle right now. Nicely matched.

Well, at least this one pair. Still got the other to do.

Fully intend to pull ’em when charging back up to about 3.6V as well, vs topping off. Probably going back into storage unless I put a couple more F13s into rotation…

Another charger?!? Good God, I’m already hip-deep in chargers. I have a bevy of small LKs plotting to kill me in my sleep…

Kidding aside (well, maybe. still not sure about those LKs…), looks like a nice charger, but right now my 26es are more of a “specialty” item, and can’t really justify getting another charger for something I’d do maybe once per year, if that.

Was just curious if anyone had glitches using 26es in any chargers, specifically the Ope.

Kinda odd that the Ope can only handle 2 at a time, though. Just a hair’s more width and I’d be able to stuff 4 in there.

Might as well create LiIonCellChargersForum.com

I got a few INR26650-50A (looks similar to Liitokala INR26650-50A cyan, but not labeled Liitokala, because at the time I couldn’t find a seller that ships the Liitokala INR26650-50A to my country, so I just got the plain INR26650-50A from another seller, and they look similar based on the pics). Anyway, I notice that these INR26650-50A cyan, also are extremely picky with my different chargers

I either have to insert or adjust them to a slight angle for the charger to recognize the battery, and the slightest nudge can sometimes knock them out of charging too. Not sure if there’s a better solution for these “very flat top” 26650s with chargers.
