Only one problem and I don’t know if it’s a big deal or not… LED is not perfectly centered.
Are you sure about that? It looks perfectly centered to me.
Look close… it’s not. Kinda hard to tell from the shadow on the right side of the LED.
Zoom in & you can see it is off a bit.
Jason is correct. It’s way less off than my original pic showed it to be, if it’s “off” at all. I had the “bright” idea to take a pic with the flash… and shows that it’s as perfect as I think the tolerances for something like this could be.
I’m pretty confident its centered quite nicely. The black centering piece can be deceiving. Only the position relative to the reflector counts. When you turn it on you’ll instantly notice whether its fine or not.
Yes, I am discussing the selling lights outside of the GB with them, that issue is still in the works. I will just say I can’t entirely blame them for what they are doing, but am not happy at all with how they were doing it.
So the “delays” for shipping the GB lights weren’t genuine after all, and they were selling out the back door? And they actually did have lights that supposedly didn’t exist?
I recall a week or two ago you said unequivocally they weren’t shafting the GB??? And that you heard from Neal and Lumintop that the reflector sourcing was the reason for the delays….
Seems to me the GB could have been paved-over some time ago.
I think the quantity Lumintop has sold outside GB is really not enough causing such a long delay.
I believe the delay was mostly due to slow in producing quality reflector, expensive shipping cost to remote area that Neal/Lumintop try to solve before asking buyer to pay more and CNY holiday.
Whatever may have happend, it’s in the past. Lets not get worked up about it now, because this will only stirr emotions even more without any form of positive impact on the rest of the group buy.

No, why do you keep hyping this?
The reflector delays ARE real, they are the limiting factor. What would they possibly have to gain by slowing production or sales and letting the competition come out with competing lights?
On the other hand they have everything to gain by finishing this GB quickly and being able to go whole hog into public sales at full retail.
All that said, the number of sales outside the GB have been a very small percentage of the sales. It is most certainty not the cause of the delays.
I last heard from him three days ago, to once again confirm my address, but then nothing.
I have not received a tracking number, even though it’s supposed to ship by DHL (but I specifically requested registered mail).
They are waiting on the AR coated lenses right now. They can’t ship anymore till the 1000 they ordered arrives. They should arrive next week and then orders will start shipping again.
I do believe that everything is being done to make sure everyone will get their light, and that the outstanding issues will be resolved. The day after I sent Neal an email I had a tracking number, and it took five days for my light to reach me (from the factory in Shenzhen to my doorstep), even though I had only chosen standard registered mail. That is seriously impressive!
Also worth bearing in mind that those who are still waiting for their packages will be getting far superior protection than the previously poorly packaged and soaked GT’s that a lot of people received.
Oh, alright then. I thought it was odd that I didn’t hear anything back, but I’ll sit tight and be patient.
BTW – I propose BLF crowdfunds a Texas_Ace BLF GT Beer Fund.
Yeah, in this case I think it is simply because there is nothing to tell you until they get the parts to build you a light.
LOL, maybe not Beer but I sure do need a new computer for both me and my mom. Mine is taking way too long to edit pictures with my new 36mp nikon and my moms is even worse, it has been loosing very important data for reasons I can’t even begin to explain. I think the SSD is going out but not sure.
Been trolling craigslist and ebay for deals but just can’t seem to find the perfect setup for me at a price I can “afford” yet.
I will say that this workhorse I am using now is a tank, 10 years old and overclcoked since day one and still going. ASUSFTW.

You got the DHL box through registered mail to the UK. Not every country will have that. Most registered mail will be the 2 small packages due to size and weight restrictions.
I hope they can use a little more insulation inside those boxes plus a plastic wrapper. Once those boxes get wet, they loose all their impact absorption.

Texas_Ace,
What sort of computer do you and your Mom have?
They are both systems I built 10 years ago. The backstory is kinda fun so bear with me. That year I ran across what at the time I thought was a good deal I could make a few bucks on, turned out that I ended up getting computers for my whole family out of it.
I got a big box full of a few hundred digital camera cradles, I figure they would be worth maybe $5 each so I picked up the box for $200
Turned out they were worth $35 each, and after I found a good deal on power supplies and USB cables to go with them they were selling almost as fast as I could list them at $50 each.
All said and done I made $10k off that deal, I am still pretty happy with that lol. At the time me and my siblings were heavy gamers so I built computers for my whole family for that Christmas. Most of them are still is use today, they were pretty nice for the time.
Far as the specs goes, mine is an Asus P5Q motherboard with Q9550 overclocked to 3.8ghz for most of it’s life, I toned it down to 3.6ghz when it was obvious I would be using it for awhile longer. recently upgraded to 8gb ram and the basics for the time along with a GTX 280. Only issues I have had was the power supply going out a few years back. That always seems to be the weak link.
Biggest thing I miss is lack of USB 3, never have had a USB 3 port. M.2 drive would be nice as well. I also need more ram for the virtual machines I use, I can only run one at a time right now.
My moms is an E6600 or E7300, forgot which, also overclocked to around 3ghz, I kept it mild on hers to keep reliability high. 4gb of ram IIRC. It just can’t handle the 50+ documents and programs she can have open for her work (Think secretary work x10) but the worst part is that it will randomly not save data and it is driving me nuts.
She will save it, it will say it saved but after you close the program and check the file it never saved and all the work is lost. I think the hard drive is going out is the only thing I can come up with but there are no other signs of that.
Yes we know what’s gone on , non of us are to pleased about it , what’s done is done ,leave it in the past & focus on positive things, as long as we all get our gt’s eventually thats the main thing.
But why even bring it into the discussion again, at this point.
You are accomplishing nothing at all…. not one thing.
All you are doing is preaching to the choir & stirring the pot.
That is just my opinion… IF I am wrong, my apologies.
IF I am right… no big deal. Just let it go.

Why do I keep hyping it?
Seriously?
All I’ve seen for months on end is people accusing Lumimtop of wrong doing, and when it eventually comes to light they have been – I’m the bad guy? Holy hell. Really? This place baffles the crap out of me sometimes. Fact is no one knows how many were sold out back, fact is we are being told the reflector issues were real – we are relying on their word that’s all . Fact is they snuck some lights out the back door.
Just wow. I’m not having a dig at anyone here and simply pointing out what we have all been very vocal about. Seems the truth isn’t good enough any more.
No, what I meant is why do you keep trying to make it out that the reflector issues are somehow fake?
No argument that the selling outside the GB is wrong, never have said otherwise.
But the constant comments that they are making up the reflector issues are not helping anyone. It simply does not make sense.
Please, explain how it would benefit them to delay finishing the GB and thus delay how long until they can go public with the sale? (selling a few via back channels is not even remotely the same).
Without a logical argument to backup your opinion, it is just stiring up trouble for nothing.
They would make SO much more money had they been able to finish shipping the GB in December like they wanted and gone public in Jan.
There is a massive difference between them selling a few reflectors outside of the GB and them lying about the reflector shortage completely. Even your own argument is based on there being a shortage.
Your posts like to word it that they are lying, which that are not.
We all know they have sold some outside the GB. That was never in debate.
I guess the people that are in the 3rd batch GB is not going to receive PM anytime soon. Its almost the end of March.
Well, we could rush the PM’s and risk making some of the same mistakes as last time or we can spend the time needed to fix the issues from last time, learn from them and then hopefully not repeat them next time.
I vote for the latter option.
Plus since we are still limited by the reflector production rate it would not really speed up the actual shipping times anyways.
Luckily thread is not locked again.
Most materials of GT are big size, so its material shortage problems are real to me. Any supplier can’t deliver the part on time and with good quality, it would/will cause delay. Very simple.

I was offline a few days
I just see this
About this:
At 00:40 UTC I answered that email
I remind you that January 16 I paid you extra money for shipping fees as you requested me
I also attach information
I still did not receive an answer
Should I send you the info by PM?
PS. I filled the survey as soon as I received it from Martin

I could not open the head yet (need to buy some tools) but could enyone measure the exact dimensions of the reflector?

Don’t you mean he’s trying to sell it for $700? It seems very unlikely anyone would actually buy it for that price.
I guess it’s a compliment that the quality of the light is high enough that someone might think it’s worth that much money.
Is there a really bad currency exchange rate there? Is $700 there really like $300 in the USA? I have no idea when it comes to South Africa.
