No more lights for a while...

I think there will be no more lights (for me) for a while. The only exceptions I can think of (should they become available) would be a cheap P60 host with a side switch rather than the ubiquitous tail switch.

The other exception would be if any cheap Chinese knock-off’s came out of the large turbo head aspheric type of throwers. A 50 mm aspheric that would screw on a standard P60 host for example.

Otherwise, I think I have more than enough lights for all the kind of things I do requiring lights.

I’m still interested in lights I just don’t see buying anymore for a while. Famous last words I know. Technically I still have 3 lights coming. Two of them will probably soon go into a junk drawer as I bought them just for curiosity’s sake (zoom lights).

Have any of you got to a point where you just don’t want anymore lights for a while?

those words help bring new models to the storefront...

I am going to slow down too after the Dec 31st gets here. I still have a few more I want to get. Crelant 7G5 and maybe a Olight SR50 is on my to get list.

I say that to myself every week. Doesn't seem to work. I have 4? still to be delivered. Need to add the Dqg AA to the collection. I find myself buying the same light/ multiples. Not sure why? I plan to gift them but then keep them. I think I won't buy anymore for a while but.....

Right now, I have three lights on order (7G5, UltraOK Q5 thrower, a recoil thrower), a solarforce ACE L2T body (and some other solarforce accessories), waiting for a "best offer" approval for a Jetbeam BC10 and I am ready to place an order for another LRI photon, but yeah, sure, no more lights for me either

I would imagine folks on this board have gone (and will continue to go through) various related stages such as this in the beginning when it comes to buying lights.

For me personally, I'd like to learn how to do more multimeter testing of lights and batteries, and perhaps some modding, as opposed to merely acquiring lights.

Moreover, I've been slowing down on the acquisition of "junky" low-end lights in favor of putting my money towards more-capable Chinese lights that have more potential.

+1. I posted something similar in some DD thread a few days ago. I suspect it's a combination of things: there hasn't been anything exciting and fresh for a while and at least I feel like I suffer from xmas shopping overload. When I was younger, getting the perfect gift was part of the fun. These days, the holidays are everywhere and it's near impossible to not get burned out. I still like Christmas and all, but at least to me, shopping feels more like a chore these days than something I truly enjoy.

Shopping online instead of going to the mall is the way to go for me anyway, because it allows me to spend time with the family, instead of sitting in traffic, but even then it still feels like someone cranked up Christmas all the way to 11 and forgot to dial it back down.

I say it to my self quite often, but in about half an hour I see a new model I like or think about modding the ones I already have.

I am also looking for a 50mm lens but I would like it to be flood to throw instead of a fixed one.

Resistance is futile...................

i m not fed up yet.. and neither am i a flashaholic. There is little redundancy in my tiny torch park (should be 5 in total) and i use and appreciate them all.

the only light left on my 100% wishlist is the DQG Tiny AAA in Titanium. it would be the lightest and smallest AAA light in the world and also very robust. (but it also depends on the price because i already own two marvelous Lumintop Worms .. which i am going to review later this week).

I think until something better than the XML comes out I have all my bases covered. Every once and I while I see something new or interesting to try, but I have reached my saturation level and have a light for every possible situation I can think of. I have actually sold quite a few lights I don't use anymore and the ability to program driver for my P-60 lights makes these lights much more usable.

I've been in a maintenance mode for a while now. I bought a lot of lights, batteries, and chargers for a while, then did a lot of modding. Now I've pretty much got the things that I can get (still want to write an interface using Tido's software, but haven't been able to get anywhere with that). So if something I can't resist comes out I will get that, but I'm not looking for anything. I wasn't crazy about the overpoweringly floody XM-L, though I have quite a few. I do like my neutral XM-L P60 drop-in though. It isn't as blindingly bright as some XM-L lights and the tint is nice.

Here’s an idea…send me one of your flashlights every month for a year and at the end of the year I’ll send them back to you one light at a time

If it wasn’t for the shipping charges we would have just perfected the perpetual motion concept as it applies to flashlights…and no more purchases!

Same here ! Must stop temptation ....

Only exception would be a great deal or something unique and must have

Hey, if y'all are going to stop buying lights, who's going to buy my Fat Boy when it's done?Cry

Don't give up yet!Smile

I think everyone gets to the point in any hobby where enough is enough. Then it's off to another hobby... I got out of lights for a couple years, now I just do a build once in a while and back off again, same with knives, same with RC, same with modelling.

yeah .....after I get these next 50 lights I'm waiting for I'm gonna hold off for a week or so .

Don’t be making promises that you can’t keep

:)

I've been quite good since summer. Only one light I forgot I'd ordered. And only two in the post.

I think.

Well, there was the hundred photon 2 clones but they don't count.

As the alcoholics tell me about beer for breakfast, that isn't drinking.
