Looking for an 8 Channel AA Charger

Hey, everyone. After much contemplation last night, I decided to purchase a Fenix TK41 instead of a Crelant 7G5. I hope I won't regret this decision...

Now, I am in need of a good charger for the 8 AA batteries that this light uses. My budget is rather limited, of course, but I would like to be able to charge 8 AA batteries at once. Also, I need this to be a 'smart' charger, in that it is not time-based.

So far, I have looked at these three:

1. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Tenergy-TN157-8-Slot-AA-AAA-Battery-Charger-NiMH-NiCd-/330532194539?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4cf54108eb#ht_1966wt_1270

2. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Tenergy-TN145-8-Bay-AA-AAA-NiMH-NiCd-Battery-Charger-/290637092526?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item43ab5216ae#ht_2048wt_1270 NOTE: No longer interested in this; realized it is timer-based.

The third one looks the best, but after factoring in shipping to Canada (15 dollars...), it is pretty much out of my budget. If it's REALLY good, I can stretch my budget a little more to get it. If there other two are just as good, I'd prefer to get those.

Feel free to offer up any suggestions for this type of charger, as well. I'd like to keep the total cost under 30 dollars after factoring in shipping.

Thanks!

I've used this Tenergy charger for 4 years now and it has worked great. I also use it for discharging batteries.

Thanks for the suggestion. It doesn't appear as if they ship to Canada, though. If you like that Tenergy charger, then I would assume that the Tenergy chargers I suggested (which are really from the same seller), should be fine, too.

Still looking for suggestions~

EDIT: That website is quite difficult to navigate, but now it appears as though they do ship to Canada. Hm.

I have two of these but they are branded as Vapex. I've also seen them branded as Voltcraft. Besides regular home use we've been using them on cave expeditions in combination with fold-able photo voltaic. One channel on one of them died after second summer in the mountains. I don't know about the others but this one won't disappoint.

It seems like a good, reliable choice then. I'm finding it difficult to locate the shipping costs to Canada on that site though. If the charger is 30 dollars (as they only seem to offer it with batteries), and the shipping is roughly 12 dollars, the total will come to around 40 dollars. At that point, I think I would go for the charger at BatteryJunction as it seems to be built better, and it just looks cool.

If the shipping is *free*, I will likely purchase this charger unless someone else makes another suggestion. :)

I've just found the Duracell CEF23 charger for $19.99. From what I've read, this is a good charger for the money.

Do you people think it'd be worth it to get this 4 battery charger and just wait twice as long to charge my batteries, but spend half as much? Or, should I just spring for the 40 dollar charger (gosh, I hope I wouldn't be charged duties and taxes...) and charge all of my batteries at once?

Decisions, decisions...

You could get 2 of the 4 bay ones?

You might also consider a universal charger, if you anticipate any need for C/D sized batteries, such as Baby swings for example...and TK70s. ;-)

The changing batteries all the time in the !#$%@$% baby swing drove me nuts, so (for the second baby) I just bought a wallwart with adjustable voltage and hardwired it. Completely irrelevant to the topic, but it just flipped a switch in my brain. Sorry.

Spend some money on a well built charger.

The MAHA/Powerex chargers are great!

After I bought my MH-C9000 charger I began to realize how much batteries I have destroyed due to bad chargers.

I have 3 cef 23 chargers

I paid 15 for 1 and 12$ for the other 2 and they came with 4 duraloops

What would i buy ? duraloops are about a buck each .i'm not worried about hurting duraloops .

I need the 12 volt option ..in fact the reason the 2 were priced so low is they are Austrailian versions which need an adapter . people cried about the charger not hanging off the wall socket with the adapter when schnoop was selling these for 10$. http://dealnews.com/3-Duracell-Mobile-Chargers-w-12-AA-Batteries-for-30-1-cent-s-h/427716.html .At 4 duraloops and a charger there need not be tears involved .simply grab a wall wart and give it 13.7 vdc in the side and be done with it .. if you want cheap do a search on the Aus version of this charger ...it's a deal and they show up pretty often .. Like i said i needed the 12 volt so it was perfect for me ..

I'd also go with two four bay chargers, especially if you're going the budget route, if only to spread the risk. If something goes wrong with an eight bay it's twice as costly and you're without a charger.
