Opinions on a build with Kaidomain's DIY LED Flashlight Host 130mm x 47.5mm (zoomie)

With an H2-C driver and an XHP35 HD D4 3C CRI80+ on 20mm copper. I would dedome the emitter with razor blade plus ultra-fine grit sandpaper.

Will this host handle 2.2A to the emitter? In a Thorfire TA13 1.5A is enough for its XHP35 HI to hit 125ºC.

Candela predictions? :-)

I wish I had some answers for you. I really don’t know anything myself. But, I’m wondering what your reason for buying this host is. I’ve seen lights similar to this on eBay that sell for less than this empty host. Is it higher quality? Or, is there something else special about it?

Well DavidEF, buying random lights on eBay is like playing lotto, you may win a prize or you may end up with a horrible quality host with hollow pill worth donkeysh1t. Happened to me before.

I'm pretty sure the quality of the above host should at least be nice, with good thermal transfer.

With regards to the emitter, maybe I should go with this HI 4000K C4 40E, to me tint matters more than two bins “on green” (3C).

Do you know if this host is a sliding or twist zoomie?

I have a few lights with the P60 style pills are they are not very good at transferring heat. Not enough contact area with the body. You can fix this issues by using like copper or aluminum foil around the pill for a more snug fit.
It also depends on the mass of the pill? If it big enough heat transfer won’t matter as much.
I have the stainless host from kiadomain and it has a a P60 style pill and it gets really hot running at 3amps with a nanjg driver and XML2. I like the host but it would be better with a proper pill.

I just put an order in a few weeks ago at kiadomain and I was eyeing out this host but I have an empty B158 here so I left it for now.

I can’t answer about the heat dissipation or candela. I’ve been looking at this host as well, looks like a solid host and a real nice pill.
I was wondering if the lens is plastic or glass.

Have you found out if it’s a slider or twist?
And what you were doing to get 2.2A output from the H2-C?

Forgot about this thread, after everydaysurvivalgear's comments decided it wasn't worth a try, at least for now.

beam0, since the stock 100/150% level output of this driver is attained with a 50mΩ (R050) sense resistor, corresponding to 1/1.5A of driving current, each R330 stacked on top adds ≈151.51/227.27mA, and so with 3x R330 resistors we would get ≈2.182A peak output.

I have placed an order a weeks ago and i have not heard any thing back from kaidomain as to its shipping status i messaged Ban but no answer. So after that clears i might buy one of these and review it.
Some one has to take one for the team!

Thanks Barkuti, I had a feeling you were adding resistors. I need to learn the math behind calculating that, I assume is simple ohms law.

Also this thread made me aware of CRI 80 in XHp35 HD 5000K from KD, now it has me considering that over a 5000K XHP50.2 for I light I want to rebuild.

Can you recommend a 17mm driver for the XHP35 with 2S (2*26650) ? I could probably even make 20mm work.
