This build got me thinking about all the spare convoy bits n' pieces I have in the spares box so I made this extendable COB lantern with four 3w warm white COB emitters wrapped around a brass core and an XP-E2 red light in the front.Convoy Extendable COB Lantern.
Quad 3w COB warm white emitters
Red XP-E2 front light
Polycarbonate tube
QTC controlled brightness
Stripped ano, black aesthetics
Variable twisty switch
Magnetic GITD tail
Length - 150mm
Width - 24mm
Weight - 146g with 18650 cellThe lantern part operates when the case is unscrewed & slid open, the two springs in each side of the perspex COB section make a circuit via an unanodised inside area of the outer tube in the fully open position.
The red head part is isolated when the case is open and can only be operated when closed.
Both parts are brightness controlled by twisting the centre section.
Operation.
The COB's come on automatically when the case is fully opened.
Brightness can be varied by twisting the centre section.
The front red light is operated by tightening the head when fully closed and can be varied via the QTC pill in the same way.
Complete lockout can be achieved by loosening the tail cap.Parts can be swapped around.
Carbon fibre magnetic hanging clip.
Daym dude…you are truly talented. Killer work here.

Cool!
I knew it.
The man is deliberately trying to make the rest of us feel inadequate
WOW! You are so creative! I couldn’t imagine an S2+ host can transform into THAT!

Amazing !
Sliding contacts with 3 springs is really ingenious, did you use a cut-down head to allow the 2 body tubes to screw together ?

Thanks for the comments guys
Yeah the centre part is the cut down head of an S6, really struggled for thread length there, as are the two tubes with an S2 tail and head pieces I think so not much S2+ in there at all really when I think about it
I’ve been working on it over the past week or so, maybe 15hrs altogether.
Thanks for the offer mate but that’s ok, this set is just going in the camping bag

You continue to amaze me. Not only do you come up with these cool ideas, but you have the skills to bring them to life.
That QTC material is pretty cool stuff. This should be a perfect application for it because I believe its very efficient, perfect for when you want to be very conservative with your batteries out camping.
the amazing crx
