I just received a complimentary review sample of the Olight S1R. You can see the ebay sales link here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/162309274840
Here is the link to the Olight Store https://www.olightstore.com/olight-s1r-baton-turbo-s
These lights ship from USA, so they arrive very quickly.
This light has a special charger that fits a special tailcap, that uses a special battery. It allows the light to be charged without removing the battery.
The package includes a lanyard, hatlamp pocket clip, magnetized charger, and a nice felt bag. Here you can see the bottom of the light, showing the charging cap.
on the left is the S1R battery and charger, on the right is the battery for the Olight S Mini, and a Universal Charger
the S1R can be turned on while charging. The charger has a red indicator light.
here is the initial charging rate
when charging is complete a green indicator light turns on
and the charge rate drops to zero:

Impressions
The S1R feels good in hand, and the Cool White beam is bright and white.
“White” is a matter of white balance, and photos may not capture what the light looks like in actual use, as that varies depending on what ambient light the brain is adapted to at the time.
I Love the Olight UI, click on click off, with memory. There is direct access to moonlight, Turbo, and Strobe.
The tail of the Olight S1R has a strong magnet. And the tailcap has a nice keyring or lanyard attachment point, that is absent on the S Mini versions. Tailcaps are interchageable. The S1R works with regular 16340 cells also. And the special S1R battery can also be charged in a standalone charger.
The S1R beam is very clear, bright, and has a wide hotspot. I like that Turbo can be reached with a double click. I also like the strobe’s direct access by triple click, useful to attract the attention of motorists, when I am a pedestrian crossing the street.
Besides the main 3 modes, that I feel are useful and well spaced, I really like the 0.5 lumen moonlight mode. This makes the light very versatile, for stealthy late night full dark situations, and also useful during the day, and when there is bright ambient light.

I’m surprised Olight is still pushing the S1R. Hasn’t it been effectively replaced by the S1 Mini?

I think they are different lights, not really a replacement. But I also find it strange that they are still pushing this light. Time for an update. Still great lights, but it’s time for something new. Updated emitters and something innovative. Olight was known for this.
Olight did not “push” the light, I requested a 16340 model, and they did not have a Ti S Mini review sample available.
fwiw, the S1R has a whiter and smoother beam than the S1 Mini HCRI. Plus the S1R can be used as an emergency fire starter when camping..
some people like to use a condom to keep the firestarter dry

Well… the “infographics” are on their site from the beginning to be honest…
I’m sorry Jon_slider but this is straight advertising
