can you make an AUX board where half of the leds light above 3,5V and if voltage drobs below that it switch to the other branch and with different color I see what battery charge I have roughly without touching the light.
A while back, I made firmware for a lighted tailcap board which did something like that, but I never actually built one. I could probably make it work better now, though it does still involve having an MCU and I’m not sure there would be enough room on the board.
It basically did a 6-color pattern with R/G/B emitters. It’d spin like a roulette wheel for a moment while measuring voltage, then settle on the appropriate color to indicate charge, and then either stay there or go dim or turn off with an occasional colored blink matching the current voltage. I’d imagine it should work pretty much the same on a front-facing board.

Nice idea. But If you do the easy way I-m really happy with two colors to determine if I’m above or under about 3,5-3,7V.
I recharge my batteries if they are under 3,7V
I recall passive voltage indicator methods, like different resistors for different color LEDs, were attempted… but they didn’t work very well or very consistently. So I went for a more active solution, using an attiny13 to measure voltage and explicitly turn LEDs on/off accordingly. The scale was red for the lowest voltage, then yellow, green, cyan, blue, and purple for totally full. Basically just a 6-step rainbow.
And the emitters were arranged in a circle so it would spin while going through the colors in order. Because bling.
Any battery suggestions?
Flat or Button top?
High Amp but how high?
Manufacturers recommended and ones to avoid?
Max dimensions?
Assume not protected…
Thanks,
Nite Shadow

Basically I could add the Maxim chip that I am planning for my LVP Tail boards as well to the aux board, but there is like no chance to make it fit on the normal d4 for size reasons
It is planned to do a color change on low voltage and shut down at LVP
Problem is I am waiting on the first to be delivered even if I ordered them 4 weeks ago
so first I have to test the tail boards successfully and the basic aux boards
It would help to know the optics and MCPCB specs on the D4S
on a Fireflies light the low battery and LVP shut off fits barely on 2 layer from space and trace routes
I’m not sure what the current requirements are of the D4S.
Efest batteries lie about the discharge capacity. I think Ijoy INR26650 is the best option in Nkon for D4S.
If you are from UK the Vape Club web store have Vapcell 26650 wich is one of the best batteries in this format.
You can look at the Mooch recommended batteries:
Efest cells are among the top cells available, I have dozens of them and they are no problem… sometimes best sometimes just in the top 3.
I have the iJoy 26650 and it’s not an impressive cell in and of itself. The black LiitoKala 5000mAh is one of the best, alongside the horizontally labeled black Shockli 5500mAh. When it comes to this type of light, one of these two black cells is what I will personally use.
Any idea what’s inside the Orbtronic cells? They mostly just rewrap other brands.
I mean, they generally choose good cells. But they don’t make them; they tend to just add a button top and/or protection circuit and a wrapper. So someone else probably came out with a new 5750 mAh cell and it’d be useful to know what it is.
HKJ has tested the 2017 version of Efests 5000mAh to actually best the black LiitoKala, but the black Shockli at 5500mAh bests even the Efest.
So, does anyone know a place that will ship one of those good options to Canada? The chinese shops seem to be in “no battery shipping” mode again. And as much as I like mtn, shipping is twice the cost of the battery so it will be a last resort. But I do need a battery as I’ll definitely want need at least one D4S
Do y’all have vape shops? Go check out a vape shop or two and see what you can find, you might be surprised to find some of these high end cells right there close by….

edit: prices back to normal, somehow my browser had probably switched to Australian dollars (exactly 35% more) and then switched back on its own
Intl-outdoor just increased the prices for all the flashlights and accessories +35%
Also the original before prices were “fixed”.
Left new, right original:
edit: using a German VPN gives me the old prices
Noooooooo

just got my d4, take my money, i want the d4s now.

I was going to get a D1S or Mini GT.
Think I will get D4S instead.
Emisar? You just know you need it.
I want it in silver (white).

Impressive work Lexel, I wasn’t too excited about all this but you make me want in!
Well looks like I am glad I put off ordering my D4 yesterday! Can’t wait for this to come out!
I’m just about to order some cells for my D4’s 18350 tube from NKON. While I’m ordering I guess I should pickup some 26650 cells ready for the D4S.
Would either of these be suitable?
Or other 26650 cells I can choose from
I’m not sure what the current requirements are of the D4S.https://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/attachments/7fdf0dbf-4d99-4676-932d-b3...

I found some 5,750 mAh Orbtronic 26650 cells, but I don’t know how accurate Orbtronic is about their cell capacities.
Any idea what’s inside the Orbtronic cells? They mostly just rewrap other brands.

Unfortunately I’m not sure what’s in them. I’ll have to see if I can get my hands on some and see if HKJ will test them.

Just bought a bunch of 26650’s (purple efest 4200 may) from https://www.canvape.com/
What part of Canada are you in? I am in Calgary and I can point you in a few directions for cells locally and in Saskatchewan
