Group buy for updated DRY 3*XML - Maximum price you'll consider - 18650 Flashlights - BudgetLightForum.com

I'm starting this poll to capture interest for a certain vendor that might consider offering the updated DRY at a discounted group buy rate. I contacted another vendor and at this point they're interested. For now I'm leaving it vague so we can simply see how many would seriously consider buying and if it's worth it for them. I only want to count those interested and that's why I didn't include a "not interested" option

The new drivers should arrive in about a week and assembly should take at least another week after that.

UPDATE: Please only vote if you're SERIOUSLY considering a group buy purchase. That way the vendor has more realistic numbers to make an informed decision.

Specs for updated version (as I learn about them):

Metal battery carrier (speculated since it's already being sold separately)

800Hz PWM (older version was measured around 200-260 Hz)

Steps down to High from Turbo after 20 seconds of continuous use

Could you perhaps post some specs of what exactly is updated in the "newer" DRY...? I for one have no clue other than a "metal" battery carrier..?

I would never buy the Ugly.

Updated in post #2

Thanks Weiser.

If I didn't already have a Dry, I would be willing to pay the going price for one. But I already have one, and would be willing to buy the new updated one only if the new driver is not available for, or not compatible with, the original Dry, and only if the price is very low (spouse said my Dry has to be my last light for a while). So my vote maybe shouldn't count. ("<$60")

She doesn't have to know that you have three of the same....as long as you only break out one at a time. :)

As a reminder, please only vote if you're SERIOUSLY considering a group buy purchase. That way the vendor has more realistic numbers to make an informed decision.

weiser, thanks for doing this. I'm in.

Don't think they will be able to do it for $60 bucks shipped. $70 is more realistic from what i payed last time, and $65 is possible if there is sufficient numbers but highly unlikely for this, coz about 20% of the folks think it's butt ugly.

i'd want to see specs on the light before i vote!

I think you should include that text in the first post.

as far as dealers go theres sbflashlights.com,cnq,and intl outdoor. maybe they can give us a price and see who can go lowest shipped.

It's a long shot compared to the typical budget lights, but I wanted to at least try because I think it's the kind of light a lot of people are interested in but have a hard time pulling the trigger. Maybe the appeal of a "group buy" and a lower price will persuade them. Also, I would like to make side-by-side 3x18650 (or 14500/AA for that matter) more popular!

Count me in.

I would back out only if the specs were crazy stupid - not likely. Also, beauty is in the eye of the beholder; I happen to think it's a great look. In this case different is good, especially when you consider its performance.

Thanks OP for looking into this. I'm seriously in for one if it's available as a NEUTRAL WHITE ($65-$70). If he can swing low $60s, I'll buy two....one for each hand

it looks like we have enough interest to start talking to ric or intl outdoor and see who can give us the best deal. both sites have them available again with no real descriptions of WHATS NEW.

Intl-outdoor has already turned us down. Ric is our point man right now but he's waiting on the driver first. He already expressed interest in the idea. I'll check back in with him at the end of the week (if I can reach him) and see where he stands. I'd say we definitely have enough interest to at least make an informed decision.
