So, last night I took apart one of my SF hosts to check battery voltage and after putting the battery back in, my 5 mode drop-in now only has 1 mode...which is high...what did I break?? The drop in looks fine, driver looks fine, even tried it in a different host and its still only the 1mode mode! Any advice?
What was the voltage?
What kind of driver?
Pics?

Burnt driver. Now you got probably a direct driven light. Check the current draw.
They're gonna send you a green redcat with a black LED.
Did the same "mode mod" by installing the battery in the wrong direction, last week. Could you have done that by accident as well.
Was it an L2i? Check your battery to see if the wrapper is damaged on the top shoulder.

No, it's a regular 2011 L2. This is the drop-in , 4.2V max, so i know 1 x 18650 didnt give it too much voltage....maybe i put the battery in backwards but i really doubt it...but it's possible i suppose
how do you suppose i burnt the driver out? it's running 2.6A now so i assume you're right about the direct drive!
maybe the insulator between star and reflector is bad, post photos of the dropin w/o reflector
Driver fubar. Working as direct drive at those amps for sure. Get a replacement driver at KD or somewhere else and choose a good one that makes sense. Not really a bad thing since the stock one was probably a low quality and performance unit anyway.

with two lights very recently. one of them i still don't know what happened. the p60 i think was a result of overtightening. its a brighter one mode now, good for using a pressure switch, so not that bad i guess.
Funny, after you said something about over-tightening, it rang a bell for me. I think i recall hearing a pop when i put the light together, and I assumed it was the spring on the p60...maybe i over-tightened and broke the driver?
