Sipik clone 'zoomie' / $6.44

Just a heads up for all who liked this light. It was advertised here earlier and many purchased. It got down to $6.16 and I bought several. Here is a link. It is being offered at Tomtop.com I have no experience with them but I purchased from their E-Bay site and all went very well.

use code led1210 to save 12% thru 12/10. Total would be $6.44 for this light. That's a great buy for a nice little light! Of course free shipping too.

happy holidays...

patrick

Thanks for the heads up Patrick ....!!!

nice to see the sites of some of these ebay vendors << added sarcasm :P

My sipik from these guys came with a loose head and nothing to slow the flood or throw (O-ring ?).If you want throw you can just flick your wrist really fast .

Thanks for that, just ordered a couple more. Best deal going currently. Tomtop has been a pretty fast shipper - they just might show up before the holidays.

I want that 'auto-throw' on mine! None of the ones I have received have it!

Just order a broken one .. I have 3 ...lol

Ok maybe a link to their site is unnecessary , considering their lights are all pretty worthless ... i'm wondering if all the whoopla over the sipik isn't a bit extreme.i was surprised that the throw didn't get very tight the image of the emitter was twice the size of the edi-t t-11 or p-4 ..i need to dig out a c78 and check it against that too but it seemed abnormally large..All the lines were there in the emitter it was just twice as big as it should have been .

I got an e-mail from one of the sales girls yesterday:

As normal delivery, it could arrive at USA in 15 days, but since it is Christmas period, the delivery time may be longer..

according to her she said she would send it out yesterday, the day I ordered it, but my account says the dreaded "processing." Appreciate your words on Tomtop being a pretty fast shipper, they were decent off E-Bay.

There is supposed to be an incomplete metal ring about the thickness of a paperclip that sits in a groove in the pill closest to the LED. Its a bit like a piston ring in an automobile engine but instead of stopping gases passing it is used to provide friction. All you need to do is slightly expand the ring or make one with an old paperclip if it is missing. In fact one of the Sipik clones I am giving away at Christmas arrived today with a loose zoom head. Two minutes and a pair of tweezers later the pill was out, I expanded the ring, reassembled and it was perfect.

Thanks for the tip. I'm glad to see it's an easy fix.

I had seen the metal ring on other zooming lights ..didn't know if they were all metal ..i was going to look for an exploded view of a sipik .

thanks for the heads up I'll look for a piece of steel to attempt a fix :)

The incomplete ring is quite small on the sipiks. It sits mostly in the grove and is pretty much the same color as the pill. First time I ever stripped a sipik I almost missed it thinking that it was just a groove for a rubber o-ring. I guess my eyesight isn't what it was thirty years ago.

Thanks for that tip VFMaddict. Two of the lot that I got moved a little too freely and your tip worked great!

I have 5 of these little zoomies on order. I first ordered 2 from tomtop's ebay listing. Then when I read this post I checked out tomtop's website. Hopefully all goes well, i ordered 3 from the actual website, for a total of 5. On their website, I ordered 2 of these little AA flashlight's for $3.35 a piece. I wonder if anybody has these or knows how they perform. You can use it as a shorter single AA light, or as a double AA light, and that was what interested me. Hopefully they are not total junk. http://www.tomtop.com/lasers-flashlights/flashlights-lamps/flashlights/5w-bright-led-flashlight-torch-waterproof-camping-sporting.html

Last year I bought two that was ok for a 0,5w/$3 torch. Ordered another and it was only half as bright as the first ones.Complained, and they sent me another poor one. Hope you have better luck than me.

Lennart

Lennart, I have a sneeking suspicion that I will not have better luck than you. But I can still replace an old brinkmann 2AA led light that i carry in my car, with one of these newer 2AA lights, I think it will be brighter than the 8 year old Brinkmann at least. Plus, it was only $6.70 so not much of a worry.

They are junk ,,,it's like a 1.29 cent blfdelight and a bad extention .they are just trash . If you happen to get one with a decent tint you've won the lottery ..i've had 30 of them and none are worth the effort to throwthem away ..They make little girls cry when you give them to them .they are awful if someone wants a cheap light in the states buying thefree light just pay 3.50 shipping coast mini tac light is a much better choice . If you like 2 AA buy the tank 566 and an extention tube from manafont or dino

Well, I gues that answers that one.

BWAHAHAH!

Ok, yep, I paid too much. Drats. Well, as I said before, it wasn't too costly of a mistake. For $6.70 I could have gotten 3 of these cheapies somewhere else, instead of 2 from tomtop. I don't expect them to be world class, just bright enough to be useful in a pinch. Tackle box type light.

Dare I say I changed a 1990s Volvo alternator in the dark last week?

My light with a magnet was a $1.79 head lamp. Was Ok,but the convinience

made me order a better work lamp. Three AAs+magnet from Dx.

Lennart

My lights from tomtop.com are just now leaving Shanghai, China. I got my shipping e-mail from them on Dec. 10th. and couldn't track it since then. I figured they were overdue to arrive here, but the tracking number now says they 'processed through a sort facility in Shanghai.....Jan. 3rd, lol. Dang. It is way better to deal with tomtop on ebay, they get your stuff to you fast thru ebay.
