Just wanted to let everyone know my Q8 XPL-HI came in today. Pretty awesome. I may buy another from Amazon when they arrive. I would think that will happen pretty soon if mine has made it in. Thank you djozz and Sofirn (Barry).
Sofirn can do these step by step. Now we are working on SP36 with 3*18650 battery tube, 5V 2A USB-C charging port, NarsilM V1.2, output could be max 6000LM. While, many
people like high CRI led, we are going to choose one model to use that led, not decided yet. But with higher price, I don’t know how popular it will be in the market.

Wow… What that SP36 look can you show us the picture ?
I have a prototype picture and it looks very nice but I’m not sure if Sofirn wants it posted?
I see ,@Sofirn what do you thinks about this ?
This is the design.
But finally we decided to remove the flats since many BLFers don’t like it.
We are going to use NarsilM V1.2 firmware. Thanks @Toykeeper for help!

Looks good. I must be the only one who actually likes the flat. I'll buy the SF36 with the battery tube with the flat sides if you can sell it to me when it becomes available?
LOL, I told Barry that many people do not like the flat bits.
(I even like the old SD10 battery styling best: fully round with plain knurling, no stripes)
FWIW, I think the light demands it’s own style, based on size and overall design. Flats on the SP36 look good, without them it looks too “tube” like. Just an observation though, not key enough probably to nix a purchase.
I like the proposed 36. What Leds ? I have been interested in longer run time lights lately like 26650 or multiple 18650s . I like the option to charge with USB if away from home .
Well, since Sofirn asked djozz to run this group buy and Sofirn themselves posted pics of the SP36, guess it’s their call.
Still waiting on the Q8 to arrive, even to leave China, so until they start getting in our hands there’s not a lot to talk about in regards to the Q8 of this thread…
I must be the only one who actually likes the flat.
I think the flats look good too. Edit: This is not something I have a strong preference about. It makes no real difference to me.
It's not a deal breaker for me either, but I was just trying to sneak away the prototype flat tube if Sofirn decides to use the round one in production
I like the flats, but I think they are best done when the threading is indexed so the flats line up with the button/other features on the light rather than random orientations. The indexed threading requires more labor for machining setups and thus more cost.

@Toykepper, I understand.
@Quad-XXX, same thing. Sorry. I’m just a bit too curious sometimes
I don’t really think the Q8 needs onboard charging though.

Digging that SP36. Put me down for a few of those.
Hope Amazon US gets those when they are available.

The flat for me too.
No flats for me.

I prefer no flats, but that adds a little weight.
The SP36 looks great. A slimmed-down version of the Q8 !
I’m indifferent about flats or no flats. I’m sure to buy a couple.
If the SP36 gets a reasonable pricing, and it has Narsil UI, and it has well implemented USB charging, I will be all over it

Yup! Being a bit smaller and lighter but with the same UI and a good deal of power and battery life will be a huge winner.
Yep, the SP36 looks very promising for sure. As far as the flats, it makes no difference one way or the other to me.

Yes flats for me for the weight decrease and looks. That’s if there is a choice, otherwise I don’t care flats or no flats.

The last 7 comments were about the SP36. Maybe it needs it’s own thread?

A thread in which to talk about a flashlight with not much info yet, that is in prototype stage and in which BLF is not involved sounds very BLF to me

They’ve spoken about it on reddit before.
They wanted to go with NarsilM and a 3×18650 design. We suggested that they take an XHP70.2 80CRI or a Nichia 144AM R9050. Don’t know where it is now.
