Nice find!!!!! This is great!!!…so the D1s and flat black are secretly the perfect match. I love how little spill the corona has now.
I’m still alil confused on how the head is electrically isolated. Is it simply the thick anodising emisar uses? Because I dont recall ever seeing a grommet or spacer in-between the head and body?

Definitely a match made in heaven, the thick anodization insulates the driver from the head because it’s simply push fit into the light so therefore the negative outer ring on the driver only makes contact with the body and it’s electrically isolated from the aluminum in the head, as we were saying before if you take apart the D1S from the top of the tube near the head the threads will wear off the anodizing from friction and will soon ground out to the head and ruin the connection once it wears off but you can take care of that by only unscrewing from the bottom of the tube.
EDIT: I just read here that there are what sounds like higher binned ones at mouser and digikey, but I can't seem to find them. I can't seem to match up the manufacture's part number to the datasheet. The listed specs appear to indicated the highest light output, but also highest Vf. They are only showing max's though. So not sure about that.
That link is for "Automotive 5-Pin SMD T/R"....I don't think it can reflow to your xpl mcbpc. Arrow do have 2 -pin but not in stock. I got their email reply of 10 pieces for $21.... Seems good deal Think I'll pull the trigger soon :-)
Oh. Thank you Nicolicous. I scanned a datasheet, but didn't catch anything about that package. I'll add a note to my above post.

It appears the 5-pin variant (if it is actually a variant. The datasheet doesn't show any other footprint) will work with XP boards.
Now to hope they are of a decent bin. Will try to attempt to measure that tonight. Never have tried to before.
You may want to hold off on that order. I'm getting lousy measurements. Higher Vf's and lower calculated lumens then both djozz and koef3 reported. Please keep in mind that my lumen calculation could be way off as I haven't really spent much time working on my integrating tube and have never measured a bare emitter. I hobbled a set up just a bit ago. So there is all kinds of potential for errors. Conversion factor derived from maukka calibration lights.

EDIT: Improved the setup up. I was losing lumens around the heatsink. I resolved that a good bit, but am still losing some lumens. My new measurements are as follows:
I definitely was a bit disappointed in the Vf results. The reading seems reasonable according to the bins listed in the datasheet. Used a DPS5015 to provide power and to measure Vf. Used about one foot of 18 gauge leads. Didn't see signs of thermal sag.
I will remeasure tonight with a meter directly on the emitter.
You weren't kidding. I was expecting a small difference, but was surprised. I verified power supply readings at the power supply terminals, no problem. Then measured at the emitter pads. I read 3.02, 3.23, 3.42, 3.60 , and 3.80 volts at 1 through 5 amps, respectively. Good news from an emitter efficiency standpoint. Thank you for sharing your observation The_Driver.
The GT mini also has same body setup like D1S. 5 black flats ordered last week and I will put one in aa GT mini, one in a Convoy L2 on led4power MCPCB. And maybe one in a modded Convoy S8 to see what throw I can get from a small tube light.

On C8 you can get up to 300kcd with 1000% perfect focus and a “good” Black Flat .

Small tube light like S2+. Basically it already has an S2+ smooth reflector and a dedomed XP-G2 now with 3,15A 9×7135 driver and AR coated lens. It makes 22500 cd in that config.
The HaikeLite MT07S - HI seems like a good candidate for this emitter for any that don't want to electrically insulate under the emitter base. Looks like you would just need to use plastic screws to keep the driver from grounding to the host. Maybe a piece of kapton tape under the 2 driver screw a points for extra measure.
Pluses:
Smooth reflector.
The light would already have a large XP emitter base.
I'm assuming a buck driver? Just sense resister to 4 or so amps. Should have good run times
That isolated head so you can use the Black Flat is already reason enough to buy a D1S. Great mod with awesome throw for such a small flashlight!

Wanting to use FET driver but is it too much current for this led?
Other review state the max it can handle is 5.4A
Nico -.-
At 5.4 it will not be at maximum brightness and be a bit blue tinted. 4A – 4.5A is optimal.

Yeah for a regular flashlight host you want to stick to between 4-5A
5+ is possible if you have good active cooling.

The 2 pin version is in stock at ARROW for $2.93 each. Just ordered 5 to play with.
How do you limit the amps to the black flat on the D1S? Do you just use a low current battery or do you have to replace the driver?
Low current battery like an NCR18650B, replacing the driver, or perhaps, just remove the high current BeCu springs and replace them with steel ones.
My very own high current Beryllium Copper springs Gen 3:
