Not a deal: HaikeLite HT35 XHP35 HD CW/NW 2300LM 3Modes Zoomable

Have been reading here and there that people have been looking for the Haikelite HT35 zoomy,
The other day BG was out and they have been for quit awhile, but today they are claiming to have some, but they’re not cheap $51,
Maybe MD4X Martin might have a code for this light.
Haike HT35 Zoomy
I’ve got one and they are nicely machined with a good lens just needs some love and you’ll have a nice light, I’d suggest finding a code though to bring the price down.
Just trying to help those who have been looking for these.

I just got mine. Amazing thrower! 796 meters, to be exact. Hasn’t gotten the attention it deserves.

I agree Rusty, it is a real sleeper light, I bought it when it first came out just because I thought it looked interesting enough to mod, well when I got it in hand it was sort of a wow… what have I got here…??
It’s really gotten no attention that I know of except and for the only reason I posted this light was there were some folks around here that have posted they wished they had gotten one of these when they could have and their comments I think were just based on the fact that really Haikelite has done really well on their design and the quality of their machining

What mod do you think is better for this light?

It’s pretty nice out of the box and really doesn’t need a mod, Rusty Joe put up some specs and those look correct to me with the XHP35 that comes in the light.
I tried a Olson black and might have actually killed some of the throw, was really hard to tell if it helped or hurt.
It does have some great machining like most the Haikelites, but this is one of their lights that just seems to have slipped under everyone’s radar.
One mod I usually will make with any Haikelite is to change the drivers. They still have issues with their drivers IMO, even though honestly I only changed mine because I had one I thought was better, can’t recall now what it was.

796 meters is 158 kcd. Specs say >1000 meters, which is >250 kcd. For a light this size, 158 kcd is not very impressive to me. It would do better with a XHP 35 HI, no idea why they would use a HD in a thrower - very strange...

The driver is not so easy to get at - no idea how to get it out without destroying the alum threading ring that holds the driver down - might just try that though.

Sure is great to see you back Tom, but I am almost embarrassed to be making suggestions to you about how to get that driver out of the HT35 zoomy and I’m assuming we are all talking about the same light…??
I don’t need to tell you how to get the pill out that much I’m sure of, but that aluminum piece just screws out, counter clock wise and the driver will just fall out.
Some times it’s the weirdest things that will get me and I’ll admit I was stumped for a few,

Ohhh, thanks, but just did unscrew it before reading your reply used a sticky pair of gloves. Yeah, I see - simple double sided driver, I assume a boost for 2 cells to ~12V. I see a suspect 050 resistor in the path to the LED- wire, so could probably get an amp boost with adding a piggyback one. I got the NW version. Thinking of converting it to an XPL HI, driver replacement, but then would need to use 1 cell with some sort of spacer I guess, or maybe a decent buck driver. Could convert it to a XHP50 or XHP70 at 6Vif I could find al LDO driver in that size.

Oh Thank the Lord, I have been sitting here sweating bullets, me telling a master craftsman to unscrew an aluminum piece didn’t not feel well at all, I had to go double check before I posted and re-read your post a dozen times to make sure I wasn’t misreading it, I was nervous.
But good news now is, I will be able to follow your lead and get mine to work the way it should, already learned a lot just from your quick observation of the driver.
What a relief,

Dunno, think there were drivers around for this setup. KD has a 30mm here that may work for a 6V LED at 4.5 amps but the HT35 driver is 28 mm.

Ohhh, this looks like the HT35 driver: http://kaidomain.com/Flashlight-DIY-and-Tools/Circuit-Board-Driver-Board/LD-51-28mm-1-5A-2-Cells-Boost-Driver-Circuit-Board-for-Cree-XHP35?sort=p.price&order=ASC

Maybe, LD51 boost…??

Edit: Looks like you beat me to it

Yeah, here: https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/35435. Think someone resistor modded it to 2.0-2.5 amps.

Here’s a comment by Rey re: those LD51 from a couple years ago, Driver for XHP35 LD-51

Ha Ha, OK I give, I think you type faster than me Tom, I’m one second behind you the last 3 posts…

OK, now it's doing it's true potential. I swapped the XHP35 HD NW to a XHP35 HI NW I had laying around, pulled from another light. I stacked an R100 (0.10 resistor) to the existing R050 resistor, swapped the wires (~24 WG) to 22 AWG. It now does ~287 kcd (1071 meters), and lumens is about the same (1720 @start, 1544 @30 secs). But really, the full flood mode looks really bright now,and of course the throw when fully focused is outstanding.

That is awesome Tom, you just did in a few hours what I’ve spent months looking at and trying to figure out where to go, I figured out which driver I could have swapped and a HI LED but I just sort of put it on the shelf frustrated, this is now cut and pasted into my Tom build and fixes file so I can finally get mine working like this down the road.
The host is a beauty like most of Haike hosts, I’ve seen very few if any that are working flawless out of the box.
Thanks for the info Tom and again, really darn glad to see you posting again, seems like you were gone for years…

Is there a code available for this light?
It looks like this light is ~ as big as the 1504 (lens size) but with better lens and much better cooling capabilities.
Interested!

Hey Doc, I saw a code for this light on M4D M4X site, the code brought it down to about $40 instead of $50 at BG.
You’d have to signup for the codes at his site though as I am not supposed to give them out, sorry wish I could for you…

, thanks man, appreciate all the kind words - been out of it for a while.

Been doing a couple triples (EE X6R, tweaks to a X6S, and a C8F 21700 finished today also), so a thrower was a nice break. and this was a lot easier. I sat on the HT35 for over a year, frustrated with it's stock under performance.

The X6R is with XPL2 4000K 90 CRI's and the C8F 21700 is with 351D 4000K 90 CRI's. Love the tint of both, and lots of output.

I want to ask a question to all the people that modded the light. Every picture i have seen from this light is not giving a very clear image of the led when the light is in max focus (clear image of the led). It is still a bit blury.
Is it possible to get a better focus with simple changes? I want to put a SBT-70 into the light and it would be a waste if i will not be able to get a clear image of the led.
