The most (and the only) functional disappointment here is too bright ultralow which is 3lums instead of like 0.5 and huge gap between this ULTRALOW and 120lumens LOW. If you pick Nichia as sidelight, with it`s 50lums, that may fix situation, you get this intermediate brightness, Hi-CRI and so convenient for close-range needs. But with UV or GREEN side LED you have this gap

The Nichia sidelight is actually also 120 lumen, not 50. So this model doesn’t solve the big gap problem, it seems.

It has finally arrived! Played it with indoors and I like it a lot. Feels actually lighter that I was excepting and Nichia sidelight actually helps some between ultra-low – low because its so much more floodier. Its not a big difference, but nice bonus and yeah ultralow could be lower if you really need it. Thats why there is AAA/AA/14500 lights. Silly Nichia and mainlights both 120 lumen modes are just about perfect brightness for close work, one with a bit brighter hotspot, still really floody light and other with even more flood. Took some pics+beamshots:

Nitecore HC30 just for comparison. Led swapped to SST40 5000k.

H30 left, Sofirn C01R in the middle and HC30 on the right. Ultra lows. Seems brighter than it is.

Nichia floody sidelight. This I will use.

Tint compared to Manker E03H with diffuser which seems much warmer. I may even like more main leds tint vs. sidelight, but much floodiness is still useful and colors seems more “real” with Nichia.

Not sure if I ever going to use this red light, but you never know. Memory function is nice if I start using these. C01R on low.

C01R on full power. Yeah its deeper red 660nm vs. 630nm Oooh trippy.

First Acebeam too for me. Not regretting yet, I hope that LVP aint a problem. Well got four 40T’s ready to give out some serious lumens tonight thats for sure. Soon I will find out. Feels proper this far, maybe even too good to be true? Shocked

Like Lumeniac said in his review H30 really lights up everything in 100m. This light is FLOODY. Went for a two hours walk last night with this. After I got home battery was still at 3.64V and turbo-max still works so I dont really worry about that LVP and three blinks of death. Lots of light before that and then just swap cell. Cool
Does anyone know what cell is Acebeams 21700 5100 mAh? Maybe getting another one of those, seems really good.
I used mainly high and first turbo when walking around forests, turbo-max too for a good amount of time because its like you have street light strapped on your head with all those lumens that just keeps coming and repelling dark away. Good thing is its not that heavy though, you get used to it and weight is not a problem so there is still room for a bigger light with even more lumens in the future I hope.

Some shady pics here:

So floody. Oh so floody.

Nichia aux.

And same 120 lumens from main led. Its seems brighter and it kinda is and throws further.

TURBO-MAX!

Then again Nichia vs. mainlight. First Nichia.

And XHP70.2.

I really like this light this far. Still its not perfect. I say it has good “flood/lumen-ratio” so no matter what mode you use it doesnt have that blinding hotspot on higher levels. Only thing its missing is that punch, 100m and thats it folks. Maybe if reflector/optics would be different like not fully round cutting atleast upper part of beam and focusing it more into throw because all lumens going up in the sky aint really helping me. Better to bring thrower flashlight with this and then you are truly blessed.

Distance to first light pole is about 50m and second 100m which you can see with TURBO-MAX, not so clearly on picture.

GT Micro NW is pretty good combo with this.

Then just some random pics:

Darkness go away! For outdoor use beats easily my current headlamps which are Manker E03H, Nitecore HC30, Fenix HP30 and Sofirn SP40. UI is simple enough too and loving that you can kinda break the mode cycle so you dont have to cycle through highest modes, but lets say you wanna go from High to Low without Turbo so just click light off, then long press into moonlight mode and one click more and low it is.
Really proper headlamp this is. Thanks Lumeniac for your review, really helped me to get this lovely light. I hope my pics with nichia vs. mainlight helps others too to choose between different aux-leds.

Has anyone got storage pouch for this? I been looking one and thinking of Fenix APB-20 but I think its too small when looking how HM65R fits in that:

APB-30 seems a sure bet, but I would prefer more like APB-20-style capsule. IKSNAIL has some same style carrying cases for about everything, but choosing the right size seems like a lot of guessing. Any help?

Just wanting to know if anyone can say how the sustained ~1000lumens mode compares flood degree coverage wise to the Fenix HP30R’s flood on High? They look close from the beamshots & probably not that much difference.

And can anyone give a sense of how long the high & turbo modes can be used once the light has been already ran & warmed up in the 1000lumen mode? I would think the turbo mode would heat up much faster and it’s runtime would be so small as to be useless?

thanks

Well H30 is really floody. Hard to compare to HP30R and Fenix is releasing some updated and new headlamps this year, so if you are trying to decide which to get, then maybe you should wait a bit longer. There is Fenix 2021 catalog out there already.

Not sure how it acts when temperature is higher outside. I been only using this when weather has been cold, but yeah all higher modes seem to give always nice amount of lumens.

Updating. Found perfect case from IKSNAIL from AE. Zipper pull got replaced immediately because that broke off and wasn’t good to use with gloves, but otherwise case seems fine. Size 11 cm x 8 cm x 5.5 cm.

You can even fit extra battery there.
