I’ve tried googling extensively, both in general, and this forum, and I’m having no luck.
I’m looking for some 6500k 90+ CRI LH351D or SST-20 bare emitters. They’re for my buddies H03 I modded with a TA driver from Lexel. He’s decided he loves CW. I currently have a couple Nichia emitters of that same spec, but I bought those before I learned that 219Cs don’t like to be driven by a FET in a single emitter config.
I don’t care that much, emitters are cheap, and I’ll put the 219C in there first while I search for replacements, and if they burn out they burn out. But the right choice is the LH351D, or an SST-20, I think.
I found some SST-20 at Kaidomain but they seem to be only 70 CRI. From what I can tell, they do exist in 90 CRI but I have no idea where to find them. I’m pretty new to all of this.
Sorry if this is a stupid request, but any suggestions?
5000K is as cool as it gets for readily available 90+ LH351Ds. Arrow, Digikey, etc. stock the 6000K (SPHWHTL3DA0GF4PQR6), but only by the reel. 6500K only seems to exist on paper right now. A much better option would be replacing the emitter with quad E21A in sm653. I don’t know how well these work with Lexel’s driver though.
Thanks for the info guys! I knew it was harder to make high temp high CRI emitters, but I didn’t realize what I was looking for simply isn’t available.
I had seen that E21a, but worried about flowing them myself and burning them up, they are super close together. I also didn’t know how Lexels driver would work with them, I barely understand how all that works.
I didn’t know about the luxeon mz, that looks interesting, but seems like it has really high amp draw? Kind of inefficient?
That’s what I’m thinking, he’s got a 5000k 219c D4, and he likes that, so he’ll be fine with a 5000k lh351d. He can get a colder light another time haha. Thanks
Clemence will reflow a quad E21A for a grand total of $1.50. He’s an expert and it’s probably one of the best value services in the entire flashlight modding world.
