There are a few tiny / cheap USB lights out there that would work well with a powerbank (or flashlight-powerbank).
There are several main types of these lights available:
The most basic, some LEDs and one or more resistor:
2. They are very nice when used as hall lights when connected to a USB power supply. At minimum brightness, they’re about as low as moonlight, and therfore, can be used as emergency lighting with a powerbank.
They are cheap enough on eBay from international sellers that you could try a couple and not worry if they don’t satisfy you. Prices start at 75 cents including shipping for the ones at the top with three LEDs ( )
Yeah i have some of those earlier ones. (2014 iirc)
Touch sensor ramping.
The first ones had audible PWM, which is quite annoying.
They “solved” it by lowering the PWM frequency… Yes, really…
I also have 2 with light sensor, they turn on when dark.
Adjustable sensitivity. Not the best circuit design though, but they work.
we have them attached toBergans, compasses, zips etc… work every penny…
did a dirty lumens test was around 2lumens for about 20 min then dimned to about .5lumens was still running after 19hours… turned off left for an hour turned on again and ran for 5mins at 2lm and dropped again for a further 2 hours…. Turning off for a while always alloewd 2lm when turning on etc…. and the photoluminescent light source was often lighten enought to check a small area on a map…
I have a few of those. I got some that has ramping and a few with sensor to turn on in the dark. Darn thing so small; forgot where I put them. I remember bringing one when I went traveling oversea.
I got five of the Soshine 6 LED variable lights in cool white four years back. They work very well and I keep them taped to my power bank and the one I left for my GF.
They work well enough and were less than $2 ea., shipped.
Yeah, teeny ones in CW and WW (!), bigger ones with integrated touch-switch (on/off, ramping), and don’t forget the “toothbrush” lights, usually COB but sometimes discrete, that also come in handy.
I kinda stocked up on a lifetime’s worth when GB was blitzing these things at wonderfully low prices (now, forget it, 10× as much).
Especially the WW ones make great nightlights, ’though the pwm can be horrible. Just scan the room with your eyes and you’ll see a big connect-the-dots trail.
Still, I carry 2 of ’em in the little pouch-thing in which I keep my earplugs and flash-thingy.
