the TK50 takes D size batteries.. And everyone knows that you can get much brigher lights with Li-Ion cells.

Does the light have to serve "baton purposes" or do you have a large amount of D-cell alkaleaks or NiMH at your disposal? Then this is a good deal... otherwise I would go for something like the Jetbeam PA40/PA40NW if you are looking for a light on standard cells.
I would avoid the TK50. 255 lumens is weaksauce and obtainable through a 2xAA package which is MUCH smaller.
A similar sized TK41 uses 8xAAs and produces 900 lumens if needed. It will have similar runtime. There is really no reason for a 2D light to be so crappy.
The TK70 uses 4xDs and hits 2200 lumens! Costs twice as much but cmon... 10 times the light? Ill take it!
Even the TK60 has a similar price of 100 bucks and uses 4xDs and can produce 900ish lumens. So if you wanted a baton and extreme runtime, that might be acceptable. Half the price of the 70, much smaller head, pretty bright.
As stated there are other options using 4xAAs, 6xAAs, etc that are brighter. The Olight S65 baton is about 100 bucks and 6xAA with 600+ lumens.
I asked this question last December ($55.39) when DD had the sale of all sales going. I am aware of D cells the XPG low lumens. My original question was about the quality of the build. I would not buy JACK SH!T from Battery Suction. Like the products but hate the company. Try Marrsinc (Ebay) or All-Battery. Did you ever research high power color emitters besides crappy cree?

i was wondering if you were thinking emitter swap. I think its a good light for $55 but that xpg wouldn't be in there for long.
Didn't buy the TK50 but sure would have made a pretty PT host.
Thyat TK50 will out throw a lot of brighter lights that put out way more lumens. You guys are missing the picture. That ain't a bad buy.
I have a TK50. It looks much brighter than you would think for 255 lumens. Plus, it out throws my TK35 by a substantial amount
