I’ve also talked to TA a few months back about the light using very high performance dual BeCu springs.
This light should be a treat to behold.
I have not seen a final prototype to see what they ended up using but they said they could be using BeCu springs, just not sure on the specs yet. I passed on the specs you gave me and they did not mention issues at the time but these things have a way of changing so not sure what will end up in the final light yet. I expect BeCu springs, just not sure on the specs. They melted some early prototype springs though, so I think they get the picture that the springs need to be beefy.
need one (or two…?)
please with USB-C charging port and 5000k SST20
No charging on this light, it would take FOREVER to charge 4 cells in this light and charging them in series is risky under the best of circumstances. I thought it best to not push luck there.
I really wish 5000k SST-20 was possible, sadly the 95cri versions are limited to 4000k.
I am having them look into the 70cri 5000k SST-20 though.
I didn’t think so but the way you worded it made me think you did lol.
I want to see the latest prototypes. I really like the colors they are trying, I was pushing that from the start, I am tired of black lights.
They said if there is enough interest it is possible we could have a special group buy for custom colors that don’t make it to the main production line.
With the 65CRI variant, we would be getting around what?
20k+ lumens.
No, not that high due to losses. I am not going to post numbers yet until I get a final prototype but early testing says not to get your hoped up that high for sure. It really depends on what bin they get for the final LED’s. The ones in my sample were low bin so not sure how much of my numbers are from that and how much is just the limits of the setup.

ok, dont know, that the cells are in series…..so its difficult
I Know that the high CRI SST20 only 3000 and 4000k, but the 5000k are much brighter (with same current)
I have a FF E07 with 7xSST20 5000k and this is brighter than my ROT66 with 9x SST20 with 4000k…
Jens
Yes, they will be a lot brighter. I am trying to get them to use the SST-20 over the XP-G3 but it has been a hard sell since they are used to the XP-G3.

They made prototypes in black and 7 other colors, so lets see what in the end will be available on sale, sure they have to limit the color count

It is slightly longer then the first MF01 but otherwise very similar in external size.

Yep. Did you receive a prototype too?
I’d love to see a beam of this thing with SST-20s.

You got a prototype?
I have a “1st gen prototype”, basically the old body with the new guts I used for testing the driver and LED’s.
The SST-20’s look amazing in it, it is my most used light since I got it working. I am also on the hunt for better bin SST-20’s and narrowing in.

I can try to get a picture later. It is the same basic size as the old MF01, just slightly longer. Very close to the Q8 in size but with a wider head.

One advantage might be cost.
Having a smaller die, it usually costs less than the XP-G3.
