Your experience with Mercari.com

I had never heard of Mercari.com until about a week ago.

I was looking for a deal on a portable hard drive on Google Shopping, which is how I sometimes find little known websites.

I found what looked like a good deal on Mercari.com

It seems similar to eBay, though I don't know if you can bid on anything.

The item I wanted was a Buy It Now sort of listing.

The seller had good feedback, though not a lot of feedback, so I bought the hard drive and paid with PayPal.

I received the item, and it seems fine.

...

Then I got an email from Mercari.

Here's the relevant part:

I don't like this system because I don't like being pressured into giving feedback, especially within 3 days!

I like eBay's system because you don't have to give feedback for the seller to be paid.

So, other than being forced into giving feedback so quickly, my experience was good so far.

I just wanted everyone to know what they're getting into if they buy or sell something on Mercari.

By the way, they do have over 1,000 flashlights for sale, but I don't know if there are any good deals.

I'll probably only check out the site when I find a link to it on Google Shopping.

How does the buyer know the items on there are not counterfeit?

I see a lot of brands on there that are high profile, bags, clothes and more

I don't know.

I don't usually buy anything like that.

I left the seller positive feedback.

I only had three days to leave feedback, or else the seller does not get paid.

Once you leave feedback, there are no returns or refunds allowed.

Seems like a really shoddy way to run a business, but I did get a good deal on my one purchase.

Also, I could not log into the website with my VPN running.

It's a minor annoyance that I can live with, but I wish they would fix that problem.

I wouldn’t have bought anything from them anyway IMO.

What would happen if something would break after 3 days?

That would be quite the illegal thing to do.

Unless they change the way they do business, it is risky to buy anything on Mercari.

I might buy from them again if I find a deal, but I will be weary.

There are too many standard. Proven reputable dealers out there to play with a “iffy”. Maybe” one.

Good price. Send money…. Waiting, waiting, waiting……

I’d leave them alone. There’s probably no Tech
or returns dep’t either. Let somebody else try them out first.

It sounds just like somebody starting from home or a shed.
and wanting some quick Positives to suck people in.

Could be wrong. but I always let others try out unknown ones first. Of anything.
