Hi

Might change my mind and get a 26650 after all lol

This one is longer than normal ones, do you think it will fit in the m3?

https://18650.uk/product/keepower-26650-5200mah/

Thanks!

It will fit. Mine has plenty of spring and allows a 21700 to fit.

Thanks!

I just received mine in the mail (5000k XHP70) and it only seems to have three modes, no moonlight, and no two click turbo from off. Has anyone seen this before? When I double click from off it just flashes once on low level and stays off.

Fast things, bright things, and things things that go bang.

This is normal behavior.

There is no moonlight, just low. (4 levels total including turbo)

Turbo needs a really good battery to work.
I use a black liitokala 50A, and most of the time i cant get turbo.
This is due to the boost driver requiring a lot of Amps from the battery.

This flashlight is in desperate need of a better driver.

Like all boost driver lights, low resistance is key. Make sure your battery ends, battery tube ends and spring ends are all clean. Make sure the driver retaining ring is tight. Use a high drain cell. LiitoKala 5000 should be pretty good, but Aspire 4300, Golisi 4300, iJoy 4200, etc… might be the better choice. Definitely no protected cells.

What is your complaint about the driver? Is it too powerful?

The red and silver?

I can’t find any decent reviews and all the pictures I see show it as a protected cell. If yours is protected, that is the problem.

I believe that’s the one. I’ll just get some good cells and keep those in my go-bag. I try to keep cheaper cells in it since it stays in my car and sees temperatures between 0f in the winter and 100f in the summer

- very low temperature regulation
- lack of modes between 1400 and 3500 lumens.
- UI can get better, no good way to toggle between high/turbo. When battery can’t handle turbo it kicks you back at low/moon, it should be high.

That’s some good points. Boost drivers are still pretty new, especially to a small company like Convoy, so no doubt they will get better over time.

Just had one of these turn up after trying to resist for sometime. First time i used it i put it on full power walked from one room to the next a quick look around and it was already stepping down…

kind of expected it to last more than a couple of minutes, is this normal?

Post 1 shows Turbo lasted just under 2 minutes. It seems to draw 10A on Turbo so I’m guessing it heats up pretty fast. Did yours get hot?

Not really no it was barely warm , 2 mins sounds about right it started to flash every couple of seconds and then ramped down, perhaps i mistook turbo timer for thermal protection?

Does it have a timer?

yes its a timer, you can wack it straight back on turbo , its pulling 11 amps at the tail so im guessing your battery probably dies before the thing heats up

Am I understanding this correctly…… At turbo mode this light will be ~2550 lumens for just under an hour before a bell curve drop?

The run time tests in post one show Turbo runs for about 1 minute 45 seconds. High lasts about an hour.

They should have the same beam angle, so the brighter light will have brighter flood. It seems the biggest difference in those two lights is the switch and user interface.

the reflector is diferent and head is wider on m26c, m3 has 5000mA vs 48000mA so dont know does that makes much diference regarding flood or it isnt that noticable so just go for favorit ui or switch?

The head size and reflector finish have little effect on the spill light because spill light is what comes directly off the led. There may be a few degrees difference in beam angle due to reflector depth, but nothing noticeable. So flood/spill light should be the same. The bigger head on the M26C should give a smaller hot spot and further throw. So the M3 should be better for shorter distances and might look nicer due to the OP reflector. There is a pretty big price difference as well.

Does anyone know of a tail cap master switch that can be used on the convoy m3 like the one on the convoy l6 so I accidentally don’t run light down? I am using the loosen up tail to disconnect but am afraid some of my users will forget to unscrew tail cap in which they have and ran down battery. any ideas? Thanks Smile

Hello,

I just ordered this flashlight. On the other hand I realized, too late, that it was the version without the -c.
A regular M3. 4200k.
From what I’ve read, the difference comes from the addition of the usb-c port, and better thermal regulation, isn’t it?

Do you find this unacceptable or is the difference still minor and does not hinder the use of the flashlight?

Thank you.

If it hasn’t shipped yet you can still cancel if you want.

I’m happy with my M3. USB charging is a convenience for me, not a necessity. I understand that the difference in thermal regulation is that the heat activated stepdown from turbo or high is more gradual in the C model instead of a sharp quick drop. As both lights hold turbo level for more then a couple of minutes before the stepdown and I never need turbo for that long it just doesn’t matter to me. Now if Convoy offers the M3 C in grey or sand color It would be enough reason for me to get the C.

I feel sorry for people who don't have a hobby or interest to escape to.

My M3-C does not noticeably step down from turbo in winter weather. In the summer it steps down a small amount. I don’t notice any step down in high ever.
