18650b and cam

Hello, i hope we will have good time here. This is my first post, sorry if i make something wrong.
I buy this cam: Page Not Found - Aliexpress.com
And this battery:
Page Not Found - Aliexpress.com

On description is write that cam should work for months. But, for me, it works less than a day.
Seller told to me that i cam only support flat batteries. My question for you is, can this be truth?
I heard that flat and button is same batteries?
Thanks.

Hi Stefs!

Flat top batteries are normally shorter than the button top batteries. So, sometimes the button top batteries will not fit correctly in the devices, because they are longer.
Also, some shorter batteries may not be able to make contact if the space for battery is longer and it there are no springs or contact points in the positive and negative poles.

But, if the cells you bought are good cells (not fake) and if they fit on the camera, they should probably last longer than they are lasting.
Is it possible that you got fake cells?

Also did you charge them to max before putting them into the camera?

Those batteries are way too cheap to be real. I think you got scammed on the batteries. Do you have a kitchen scale or any scale that can weigh small amounts like grams? If you weigh the batteries, you can often tell if they are fake. Real ones are heavier than most fakes. Getting a good weight doesn’t guarantee that it is a good battery, but getting a light weight pretty much guarantees a fake battery.

Here is a test of the Panasonic NCR18650B from a well known and trusted battery tester. This says each battery should weigh around 45 grams.

Where are you in the world? There are better places to buy batteries so that you can be sure to get real ones. But, the recommendation will depend where you are. AliExpress is known to have a lot of stores selling fakes.

Also, where do you have the camera installed? If it is a solar powered camera, it should last many months, maybe even years, because it should charge the batteries when the sun is out. But, you need to have it in the sunlight.

Thanks.
I put in sunlight the cam.
I turn on cam on 7am(fully charged), and cam dont have power about in midnight. i barery fit batteries in the cam, (its very very tight now, litteraly dont have space for millimetar more).
I send message to center, he told that battery need to be flat. I was thinking this is the same for cam, so i decide to ask a question to be sure i need to buy new 18650 flat.
I am from small country in Europe, where is 18650 batteries more pricey. Now i will go to buy 18650 flat if people from this forum confirm me that the problem is because of the batteries.

Flat or button top should have no effect on how long the batteries last. They’ll either work, or they won’t.

These are very likely low quality fake cells.

Yep.

That is a real possibility.

I mean, if all of the Liitokala stores do this, GTF is probably even worse.

Also, did you charge them before use?

Yeah, this is what I was saying above. I really believe this is the real problem. BLF Member BlueSwordM started a thread to tell where to buy good batteries in various places in the world. The third post HERE lists some places in Europe. Perhaps one of these will help.

EDIT: Oh, Hi Blue. We was just talking about you.

Batteries is 48gr each.

most Aliexpress shops do not say Panasonic

so if no Panasonic in the description its fake

GTFs?? Someone “exposed” them as having hideously overinflated ratings, and were crapcells at best.

Should be called “WTF” or “GTFO” instead…
