yes, that did cross my mind but then I thought why would Richard be offering the V2 tailcap before the light was even available??? I suppose ‘because he can.’
I just got a “shipped” notice from Hank for the D4v2 I ordered. I paid for DHL shipping. So hopefully, I will receive it early next week. I ordered the XPL D5 4000k emitters. I hope that I will like them.
How much is DHL I dont even remember seeing that as an option?

Generally, orders will be shipped via China or Singapore post 1-3 business working days after full payment is received, and will reach to most of the countries in 2~4 weeks.
If you want to ship by other shipping methods, like DHL/FedEx, please contact us and we will calculate the shipping cost for you.
Dear customers, our site is not advanced enough to send the tracking information automatically, please send us an email to contact@intl-outdoor.com to inquiry about the tracking number when your order is marked as “shipped”.

this latest offering has received a bit of fanfare, but I would have expected more.
Nobody except me has actually gotten to try one yet. There will probably be more posts about it after items start arriving.
.
I could be the first to get one. My D4v2 arrived this afternoon. (I couldn’t wait and paid extra for for DHL.) Thank you Hank and TK! I just love this light.
The Auxillaries are fantastic, especially that you can configure them differently for when on or in lock-out. Rainbow mode is cool, but unless on low,it bothers me after a bit. Perhaps, that’s because the colors cycle a bit faster in my production version than the prototype in TK’s review, In addition, they are noticeably brighter in both low and high brightness settings than the auxillaries in my D4S or my E07s. I wish there was a middle brightness setting for them.
Temp calibration on mine was spot on. So, I didn’t have to change it. Step-down from Turbo seemed quite smooth.
The clip on mine is rather strong and with knurling now on the tube, it might take its toll on my pockets. Time will tell. I like that the clip is reversible on the 18650 tube but is too long to fit on the 18500 or 18350 tubes. It looks great with the stainless bezel I ordered. The sand color is more of a gold shade than a tan. I like it a lot, especially as a change from the usual black or grey lights you see so often.
I selected the XPL Hi D5 4000k emitters which have a nice consistent neutral/warm tint at all brightness levels. It never looks green and perhaps has a pleasant hint of pink in it.
I am looking forward to hearing from others when they finally get theirs. I am happy to say that my D4v2 has exceeded my expectations.
I do have photos but couldn’t figure out how to post them here. I did post some on Flashlight Fanatics, under my real name, William Wieder. Check there because somebody else also got 3 of the D4v2 and has a dozen pictures posted.
The Auxillaries are fantastic, … I wish there was a middle brightness setting for them.
They’re not on pins with PWM functions, so it doesn’t have a simple way to adjust the brightness. Even if it did though, that would use more power than just leaving them on high mode all the time. It’d require keeping the MCU awake to generate the PWM waveform, and even at a slow speed that increases the power usage significantly.
However, if you really want fancy RGBA color patterns, I have that working nicely on my lightsaber… and it lets the user configure whatever patterns they want, by building them out of basic waveforms in color space.

Just curious, is that fancy RGBA color pattern on a different variant of Anduril hex file that can be flashed on the Emisar D4v2?

Having initially thought that the auxillaries are too bright, I have found them now helpful for bathroom trips at night. I have them set on bright red in lockout mode. I then have a choice between red or momentary moon mode. In the morning, 5 clicks to unlock and turn the auxillaries to off, which is my usual auxillary preference for when the light is unlocked. However, for fun, when showing off my light, I then switch it to bright rainbow.
Received mine today and I love it. I can confirm that the secondary LEDs are brighter and they are more useful than on the D4S.
Best colors are RED, BLUE and GREEN because other colors are obviously only a mix of the 3 primary colors.

Can the auxilliaries be set to very low brightness ? ie just enough to find the flashlight in darkness ?
I hope not , why change something when it’s almost perfect, if there is a new version then I hope Hank will give the option of keeping ramping V2 instead of forcing anduril on us (me).
I dream about D4S with Osram KW C*LPM1.TG and Andruil – for a price significantly lower than a modded light.
21700 and Attiny1634 with programming pads would be nice as well but not particularly important…
Actually I dream about BLF light that would compete in that niche.
And I have a few ideas how to improve over Emisar.

I’ll just leave this here:
come on Jay, what are you doing??? That hurts! If that in fact is in your possession please do a video of the aux LEDs
That light is indeed in my possession but there’s no aux to be found here (click the pic and you’ll understand).
sorry, still clueless. not sure what a link to Mountain has to do with you being in possession of of a V2 D4.
He put the V2 D4 Tailcap on the original D4…

Will there be D4S II? Or D4S in 21700 format?
@1theDeals
No, it’s a completely different firmware created for completely different hardware.
Can the auxilliaries be set to very low brightness ? ie just enough to find the flashlight in darkness ?
Yes, they have a low mode… and it’s very low.
That’s the mode I use, because I think the high mode is way too bright.

Good news.
@freeme, I use an adapter for a 18650 in lieu of the larger cap 26650
On my D4S. For what it’s worth.
Have a bunch of 18650, only one Shockli….
You know what would be nice?
A 21700 D4 with a lonoceans boost driver/constant current FET+FET driver.
I’d be willing to pay a pretty penny for one.
