Solarforce is closing?

I’m wondering if Solarforce is going to leave the flashlight industry?

https://www.solarforceflashlight-sales.com/categories/mega-deal/

I don’t have many of their products but knowing a company that gives us alternatives to expensive P60 series to leave the industry is somehow saddening.

they have been running sales for more than a year now, most of their items are now gone.
Most ebay sellers I used to buy from also left the brand.

Very sad indeed, I have Solarforce flashlights and they are amazing. Maybe this exemplifies the demise of the P60 light design model.

Also, from a pricing point of view their products are no longer competitive. After rebates you’d pay 15$ for a L2 type host and about the same for a decent Solarforce brand drop-in. For 30 bucks you can have almost any modern budget light these days. Even the FW3A is only 2 dollars more.

Call me acab, could you post pictures of some of your
Solarforce lights?

I have a total of 5 lights, but not pictures where you can see the entire family.
L2T, L2T SS, L2, L2m, extension tube, ss bezel. None of them used except the one posted.

My wife has almost worn the finish off of here L2M with only the short 18350 tube. I built her a dropin with the R9080 Nichia led and she just loves it. She likes the shape, says it is very easy to hold.

Never had a solarforce, but that Z1 and Z2 look like nice hosts for an EDC builds.

I had a lot of flashlights over the years, but the build quality and overall finish on a Solarforce were always superb for the price. Admittedly, I have never actually wanted to change any drop-ins because I have so many lights. But if a person carries 1 light at work and requires several colors or light applications, the P60 design is intelligent.

They exposed peoples data, the entire customer base a few years back and took forever to patch the site and in doing so lost many customers for life, me included.
Was beginning of the end for them.

Sad as they made a nice product at one time.

I didn’t know about that data leak. But all I did was order and checkout via paypal, so not sure how much else they got from me. My address has changed and that email is also gone.

Is there even data/privacy legislation in Asia? Even Western companies get away with it, not sure if they even care about the fine.

No social skills, but nicely built, by the looks of the pic!

Thank you, UR acab! :+1:

PS there is money to be made by companies selling consumers’ info/data….

So where are we getting SF parts going forward?
What is the plan for you guys regarding P60 lights? Keep them as a memory? Get rid of them?

Catchy name. SolarForce.

Thanks Just grabbed some solarforce clips for $2 ... Very cool

oddly their prices aren't exactly giveaway in some cases

Thank you for the heads up. It looks like I got the last single CR123 host. I really like the form factor of that little host.

A few in my collection.

SolarForce SS L2m …

Solarforce Skyliner

They even shut down their main website:

It was working a while ago.

Wellp, it’s not like they suddenly stopped working or anything…

I still have quite a few L2M hosts, I could open up Fasttech America with all the pills, stars, drivers, etc., that go into drop-ins, so I could still throw together quite a few drops-ins even in UV and pink if I wanted to (like my purple ’501 with 365nm UVLED).

And that’s not counting the actual good quality ’501s and ’502s I have (ie, before they turned into le chit in that race-to-the-bottom a few years ago).

Hell, I even have a few NexTorch nylon-body drop-in lights.

Y’all have to remember that we didn’t all “need” 2000lm lights barely bigger’n the cell powering it. My plumber still has his ancient battered Angry Blue™ drop-in light that squeaks out maybe 200lm with a most annoying low-voltage blink, but for him is just fine for looking behind boilers and under sinks. I even offered him a choice of lights, even with usb charging (he was using ’123s), and he just wasn’t interested. What he had was fine for him.

Of course, his assistant was floored by the bright blanket of light from my Cometa, but I wasn’t about to sell that.

So maybe new development in drop-ins (both the actual drop-in and the hosts) might be a dead-end, but the lights still live on.

For host we still have Manta Ray M5, Manta Ray M6, KDLITKER E6. Also https://www.lumensfactory.com/en/ is still making new items.

I have one. L2i

I love the tint. I keep it on low under a lamp instead of using lousy CW light bulb. Also tail stand sometimes and use on low for romantic candle like dinners.

-P60 Drop in built by nail bender

-Custom 1.7A XPG2 NW My guess is ~ 3500K to 4000K

-About 500 lumens on High

I am searching for the stainless steel bezel for my Solarforce L2T, and only come to know that it has gone out of business. :frowning:

Does anyone know what’s the reason? Business was bad, or moving on to different products?

The only reason I own Solarforce light is because I appreciate the protruded switch design. I am a big fan or protruded switch because I almost never use my flashlight in tailstand, and if I need to do so I already have bunch of other lights which are capable to do so. Can’t really think of any other budget alternative to this requirement other than Solarforce, I need your recommendation if you know of any.
