Sanyo NCR18650GA questions

Hi guys,

I recently purchased 6 Sanyo NCR18650GA cells, and an XTAR SV2 charger from IMRbatteries. I have two questions I’d love to hear your thoughts on:

1) The NCR18650GA cells fit my 47’s MMX-360 really tightly. To put it in perspective, my current NCR18650B can easily slide in and out of the flashlight, but the NCR18650GA fits so tightly I have to fling the light to get it out. Is it safe for me to use the NCR18650GA in the MMX-360?

2) The XTAR SV2 charger can charge 2A x 2 slots. Can I charge both the NCR18650B and NCR18650GA at 2A?

Hope to hear from you soon.

1. Did you get protected NCR18650GAs?

2. 2A is good for the NCR18650GA, but not optimal for the NCR18650B.

If I were you, I’d go with 1A for each, but you can go with 2A on the NCR18650GA.

Yes, both the NCR18650GA and the NCR18650B are button top protected.

I understand the charging question, what about using the NCR18650GA in the MMX-360?

Well, it shouldn’t have a problem using it, unless you really can’t remove it at all.

I’m just not sure if the tight fit has any negative effects on both the battery and the light, but I can get the battery out with some effort :D. Is it safe to use then?

Ah, so it’s a problem with battery thickness rather than battery length. Just makes it more difficult to remove.

100% safe then.

Yay, thanks!

Another question: I currently charged all 6 cells using 2A to 98% or 99, and stored them in the plastic container. However, as I placed them back into the charger to check the capacity, the charger read at about 88. Is this normal? Why is this happening?

Battery voltage starts to drop a bit after removing them for the charger.

That’s what I’ve been reading as well. Thanks for the input!
