All I can get out of the GP is co-codamol 30/500 (codeine/paracetamol).

That really sucks. That dose of Tylenol is really close to OD (more than 3000mg/day) and liver damage. I think it should’ve been taken off the market decades ago. And 30mg of codeine is unlikely to do anything. Ask for Vicodin, Hydrocodone Bitartrate and Acetaminophen (same as paracetamol and Tylenol) Tablets, USP 5 mg/300 mg), lower dose of Tylenol is safer, and 5mg of Hydrocodone will have an effect, kill the pain. But be careful, opiates are highly addictive.

Paracetamol rarely does anything for me. I asked for just Codeine, GP gave me 6 tablets, even the pharmacist said that was tight of him. Previous GP, before my sternum fracture was diagnosed, prescribed 3 Paracetamol (500mg) 4 times a day and 2 Ibuprofen (200mg) 4 times a day, for a week. She said Paracetamol would be like gnats piss to someone my size. She left the practice shortly after that, to ‘help the refugees in Greece’.

A doctor that knows your in pain should just give you what you want. Unless you are loyal for their exceptional medical acumen, shop for a new doctor.

Have you tried also the supplemental side of things for these types of pains? as In copper supplements for a while or high dose vitamin C for a while, quitting carbs entirely ?
For me personally I have found some things that make the pains worse, but unfortunately just pulling them out did not cure the issues, after years.
