Sorry to disappoint you but I cannot provide this kind of service to inform everyone by single notifications. I kindly ask you to regularly check this thread for any news. I do all this here by myself, free of charge, free of any kind of compensation and last but not least during my spare time. Thank you for your understanding.

You do not have to pay $ 52 to buy C01R. The light is available for $ 9.99 plus shipping. Shipping is free of charge if your total order value exceeds $ 59.00.

Thank you.

red is usually good to not ruin your night vision and not attrack certain animals etc….

Any other usage?
It’s tempting and I might get it anyway and find use for it

I understand. Thank you for what you do. I should have checked more often. But since the start of the corona thing I have not been checking the forum as often as I wish.

When I chew cinnamon gum, I use a red flashlight to get that extra “kick” of cinnamon flavor.

I think I turn the pocket clip upside down, add diffuser cap (did this include one btw?) and put this on my backpacks when I walk/bike outside when its dark. I just moved into rural area from city and loving the darkness when no light pollution turns night sky into hideous orange color and no pesky streetlights that much so should be pretty interesting place for a flashaholic to play with all my toys. Should work with pals webbing that I have in many of my “bushcraft/urban/rural exploring” packs or with Ospreys clip that they got for light. Mostly using Osprey as lightweight daypack or when biking. I’m kinda like backpack addict too. I think I got something like +10 backpacks right now, ordered Rush 24 tac od this week because loving Rush 72, but needed something +25l-40l also and after that maybe smaller Osprey than Talon 22 and Wisports 75 litre backpack too after those maybe, because sold my +100L Tasmanian Tiger to my friend. Should do a new thread for backpacks to see if theres other outdoor/backpack enthusiast out there.
I also could use this as mandatory bike rear light because there is new law that requires using red rear light when biking at dark and even though I got rear light way before that law because loving lights and just common sense to make yourself seen in the eyes of other road users.

Might use this light at nightstand too if needed to go bathroom late at night, but that wont happen very often at all. Also with some “exploring” trips its good thing not to draw too much attention so red light works well when needed to get something from backpack etc. Many uses and I think almost everyone can find some use for this. Really versatile.

Look up red light therapy, there are supposed health benefits when using this wavelength of red light.

Well...you don't have to put on the red light... Big Smile

...apart from using it for "horizontal business" pleasures you could use C01R for:

  • low light applications like night-camping, cave explorations, stargazing...any scenario that should maintain your night vision capability and/or avoid attraction of nasty insects
  • ambient illumination in your bedroom / hotelroom / living room etc.
  • supporting your sleep quality when using as a nightstand light
  • seeking the way to the toilet at night without waking up your wife, mistress, whatever....happy wife, happy life Crown
  • giving it away to friends as something special they would not expect in a keychain light Cool
  • ... no particular reason ... because you just can Silly

Barry was so kind to send me two new whitewall beamshots that he took with his smartphone camera. Unfortunately, it is more than difficult to get the same impression (tint, color rendition, actual and perceived brightness) from a picture as you would get with the naked eye. However, let's just consider this as some kind of appetizer before you receive your own lights. Smile

As soon as I receive this light I will do a review including a side-by-side comparison between C01, C01S and C01R as well as a tint comparison with a modded Sofirn SF14 or Wurkkos WK30 with XP-E2 red (625nm).

Picture #1: Low mode (Barry says this mode really dim and barely to catch with his smartphone camera). Maybe this could be ideal for preserving one's night vision when using in darkness.

Picture #2: High mode

Probably just from the official Sofirn website for now and maybe their AE store?

The official store as linked in the first post only ships to the US as far as i can see.
Their AE store seems to ship to the UK though, thanks! All i’ve got to do now is overcome my as yet unexplained phobia of AE.

Sofirn also has an eBay store. C01R and C01S are there for sale. “Standard” shipping from China to the U.S. via SpeedPAK included in price.

Don’t know if they ship to U.K., though….

It ships to Australia too. There were a fair few countries in the list.

Not sure if the German Amazon warehouse also ships to the UK but it might be worth a try if you can wait until August 2020. Sofirn told me they will also sell C01R on Amazon. I suppose they mostly use their German warehouse for European customers but they also have domestic (Amazon) warehouses in Italy and UK already.

Thanks, but can’t see the C01R on there, just the S.

Thanks , where are you seeing that? The only shipping details i can see are ‘Shipping cost’ under which there is ‘Please select the country you want to ship from’, but when i click on it the drop down list is empty and there’s a ‘No optional’ statement.

Edit: – Ohhh, turns out that if i select the number of packs i want i then get the full shipping list! So all sorted, thank you all for you help Smile

Thanks. I had a look on Amazon.de but couldn’t see this light. I can wait though Smile

Ah, I get the same “No optional!” when I load the page and click “United States via”

You need to select “color: Pack of 1” first, then click “United States via Standard Shipping from China” and then choose your country from the drop-down menu that pops up.

It may be a bug with the website. When you first load the page there’s no item selected. It doesn’t seem to know what shipping option to use.

Hi Marc, for Sofirn’s eBay Storefront, do an advance search by seller’s user ID: sofirnlight
Both the C01R and C01S are still listed as of this moment. One can also contact the seller with questions. Best of luck!

Glad you worked it out!

Forgot about the eBay store.

I wouldn’t worry about AE. I haven’t had any problems with them. The search sucks but as long as you know which store you want to buy from then the rest is easy. I’ve only had one faulty item that I had to claim through AE, it was very smooth and painless. For extra protection you can use PayPal, they charge a small fee but then you have added buyer protection with PayPal. I used to use PayPal, but now use a prepaid USD credit card to save a bit on the FX. No problems.

Anyone else notice the Sofirnlight website updated the images from a red C01S to what seem to be actual images of a C01R?

A pleasant surprise was found in my mailbox today. Just nine days after the shipping notice from Sofirn, the little deep red light arrived today. For the price an absolute AWESOME little torch. Well packaged, two O-rings included and and even the detailed manual. I couldn’t be happier and will test it at my next telescope watch night. The spill is very even and I absolutely like the low-mid-high mode. The first will probably be enough for my purpose, high is pretty bright, even under daylight conditions. Once it’s gettin dark I will disco today! Wink

A big thank you goes out to Lux-Perpetua, Barry and Sofirn. After the delightful LT1 now this little gem – I absolutely appreciate the fruitful cooperation between BLF and Sofirn (and of course spread the word)! Smile

Glad to see they’re starting to turn up! You’ll have to let us know what it’s like once it gets dark :).
Mine was shipped on the 27th May, but still hasn’t arrived :(.

This is the red anodization already known from C01 and C01S if I’m not mistaken. A more muted, darker red was discussed but eventually discarded.

It looks different than the pictures of C01S I have seen. This red seems a lot more saturated.

It seems that there are also new colors available for C01S. Black, red, blue, non-ano, orange, desert tan, and green.

Yes. But matte colors, as it was planned for the C01R, are not possible for Sofirn. Dunno why. They’re all glossy. Well, maybe it’s a different red, that would be nice.

I’m not the only one in Germnany who received the light today. In the taschenlampen-forum user the_holodoc posted some nice pictures that do it pretty much justice (its really hard to make a adequate photograph because the intensity isn’t properly reflected). I’m not sure if it is allowed to link – just google: taschenlampen-forum c01r and use the link in post #124. High mode indeed gets warm very quickly.

Barry also sent me these pictures and said this is the look that represents the actual body color of C01R as real as it gets. It seems they tried to make a red that is at least a bit more saturated and darker to get as close to „wine red“ as possible. What a nice surprise! I guess the result is really good.
