WainLight - what is going on?

I’ve been spotting more often this brand, it seems to be increasing share at Banggood

But today I saw Convoy L6 named WainLight.

Does anybody know what is going on? Is Convoy splitting their brand?

Edit: As seen so far, WeinLight seem to put his logo on other brand’s flashlight. But Convoy? I’m just surprised. Will have to buy one to compare details…

Some of the WainLight designs look very Convoy, like the tailswitch-based H1802 and H1307B. Others are eSwitch, like the BD01 and BD11. It wouldn’t surprise me if WainLight were a company focused on distribution, and used the same manufacturers as other companies.

Convoy C8+ vs Wainlight "C8+"

Basically looks the same (the Wainlight seems a bit glossier/shiny, right side)

Convoy C8+ "Oak Brown" vs Wainlight C8S-G "Coffee Yellow"

(now there's a more distinct color difference, but body design is still exactly the same)

Apparently wainlight is neal’s (from nealsgadgets) own brand name.

I just (like, a minute ago) guessed this in another thread.

Do you have a confirmation about this? Do we know anything else about the brand?

Nope, just came from that same other thread as well

I’m still wondering if I’ll grab one of these just to have that metal button in the black host :sunglasses:

EDIT: some of these lights are also available on AliExpress: https://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale?catId=0&initiative_id=SB_20200610070932&SearchText=wainlight

Browsed the Fin17 thread, and saw a “Wainlight” C8G out in the wild, too.

WainLight Y3 Deeeeeeeep Reflector…

Deeper’n the HS-802?

Kinda looks like the same host? But different reflectors….

It looks like the WainLight Y3 has non-anodised tail cap threads, but the AloneFire and UniqueFire HS-802 has anodised threads. It also looks like the Y3 might be unbranded, which is nice.

I wasn’t aware of the HS-802 before, now I think I need one with a single mode driver and a white (or green) flat.

Mmm, pretty nice. I think that’s comparable to an ’802.

’Though in reality I think it’s really just the diameter of the reflector that determines the hotspot, and the length/depth of the reflector just determines how much spill is “allowed”; the difference being “caught” and sent to the hotspot instead.

Might make a messier corona, though. Not sure.

The available ’802s were exclusively red and green emitters; don’t recall seeing any in white.

But instead of ordering from Massdrop, you order them from Waindwop.
