My Thrunite T1

I have been carrying and using my Thrunite T1 for a few weeks now and I just cannot say enough about how much I love this light. Originally, the Olight S1R attracted my attention (to be honest, I still want one) because I wanted a light that I could easily carry, one that put out a great deal of light when needed, had a long run time at low levels, and had a UI that was useful and intuitive.

I am happy to say the Thrunite T1 is everything I wanted, and more. I carry it every day, use it on walks at night, use it around the house at night (occasional bathroom visits) and general use as needed. I plan to use this light when on my numerous motorcycle trips and I like the fact that it is rechargeable. My Harley Ultra Limited has a small box in the fairing for a cell phone complete with a USB connection. The T1 can ride there and charge during the day as I ride. I have ridden well into the night many times and it is nice to have decent light to set up a campsite or read when in the tent.

I made a diffuser for the light out of a small opaque motel shampoo bottle and the light will light up an entire room now. In a tent, it is like daylight!

I still look forward to giving the S1R line of lights a try, but so far I have been very happy with the T1.

Just out of curiosity - what light typically goes everywhere with you?

There is only one light that goes everywhere with me. I don’t even carry it in my pocket. It’s in a small go bag that is always in the truck anytime I am. Without fail, if you see me, the bag is not too far. Jetbeam IIM TAC. No other light has ever gone everywhere with me at all times.

Is it 18350?

Unheard, another $50 down soon :weary:

Yes, the Thrunite T1 is 18350. It actually comes with its own 1100 mAh 18350. But I tested mine with an Aspire 18350 and it works fine.

It is a small single-18350 light. It is noticeably smaller than a Jetbeam RRT-01.

Main features:

  • Decent UI with shortcuts to moonlight, turbo and last used mode. It also has infinitely variable ramping (though not quite as good as Anduril).
  • Comes with built-in USB charging. Cap over the USB port is rubber but fits securely in place. Little chance it will come out accidentally.
  • Max output 1500 lumens with XHP 50.2.
  • Comes in neutral and cool color temperature. I have the neutral. Tint is a bit greenish.
  • Has a strong magnet in the tailcap. The magnet is removable.

How could I have missed it :+1: .

My EDC was for years Olights i3E, just because it was on my keyring. It currently is a pimped Nitecore Tube (ww HCRI LED). But usually I have an additional 16340/18350/14300 clipped into my pocket. A small, versatile light like your Thrunite T1, that gets used before even thinking of the keyring f/l. Has been the S1R since 2017, but now is more often Klarus Mi1C HCRI, Jetbeam-II MK, RRT-01, or, very small, Folomovs EDC 2. There are too many good lights, and none of them perfect ;-).

It’s not my favorite torch anymore, but for my EDC I gotta give it to the Thrunite Ti3. It’s always tucked in a pocket of the belt bag I always wear and carry essential stuff in, and it’s come in handy a good few times when I left in a hurry or was otherwise preoccupied like when I was moving house a few weeks back and didn’t put one of my Convoys in my pocket.

I agree that the T1 is a cool light. However, I can’t recommend the neutral white version. I generally prefer neutral tints, but the T1 NW I received produced a very yellow center surrounded by a purplish spill. It was not pretty. It was evident in real use, too; not just white wall hunting.

Wow…been looking up the lights you guys listed. There are some pretty awesome EDC lights available! I knew this forum would cost me money haha.

I am a true believer that the best flashlight is the one in your pocket when the lights go out. I love EDC lights because I can carry one without having to think about it.

BTW - Also been keeping an Olight I1R on a ball chain around my neck. I know it probably sounds ridiculous, but it really has come in handy a time or two.

The T1 does look promising, but for 16340 lights, I've been content with my FourSevens Mini MKII riding on a dangler clip in the pocket of my cargo pants.

As for the Ti3 mentioned by Jack Kellar, I love the light and would like to get another one, but it looks like only the V2 is being sold now, and it has next-mode memory, which is a deal killer. Why, ThruNite?!?!?! Anyone know where to get the older Ti3 version with the hybrid memory?

Aye, the Ti3 thing hurts me in my soul. Mine is also the very old XP-G2 variety (as far back as 2015, it is easily my oldest flashlight in use), and I jackpotted the Cree tint lottery with it: the beam is neutral-warm and just the right amount of rosy.

Just in case, I took the opportunity of the 11.11 sale and got myself a Lumintop EDC01. It’s basically a twisty Tool, so I know I’ll be fine with it.

Note that the Thrunite T1 is an 18350 light. The 18350 cell has nearly twice the battery capacity of the best high drain 16340.

I have the neutral version, but the tint is quite green. I wonder if anyone knows where to buy XHP 50.2 neutral white in better tint. This one might be worth reflowing.

I can say that I like my Wuben e05.Very good quality, good UI and beam.

Oops! Thanks for the clarification, Firelight2.

I haven’t delved into 18350s yet, so it’s good to know about their capacity relative to 16340s.

My other EDC light that I really like is my Sofirn SP31 v2.0. It has really decent throw for an EDC light.

Has anybody modded one of these lights? Looks like a great host for quadrix e21a from Virence.

Well, I think the Thrunite T1 is the best light, and anyone that disagrees is a poopy head.

Kidding of course:

You guys got me looking at a boat load of other lights. Anyone have experience with the Fenix E16? I know it is a smaller capacity battery, but it looks super compact. I was curious about real world experiences.

hi Spudley :sunglasses:

I have an Acebeam TK16 on the way which which comes with the SST-20 4000K or Osram Flat White for massive throw. I wanted a T1 but was steered away due to the tint shift.

Hey buddy! Good to see ya!
