Do I have a duff cell? Max full charge 4.10V.

One of my new(Convoy/Simon) 21700 cells will only charge to 4.10V, so is it knackered and/or degrade quicker than the norm.

Tom.

I’m not very sure, but maybe the “iMax B6” charger was set to charge to 4.10v instead of 4.20v

(usually such chargers have settings/configuration to charge to 4.10v, 4.20v, 4.35v or other nearby voltage). I can’t be too sure, but check its manual.

Most Li-Ion batteries are supposed to charge to 4.20v to get the full capacity. Charging to 4.10v loses just a bit of capacity and can prolong battery life cycle, based on what I read…

If I remember correctly, my iMax B6 Mini didn’t charge up to 4.2 volts when Li-Ion was selected. Worked fine with LiPo. Even they both should use the exact same CC/CV charging algorithm to 4.2V.

It’s odd because the other cell, of the same spec, charges to 4.2V on the B6. When I contacted Simon he responded with the charger being the problem and, for that particular cell, I would have to agree because when I charged it on my Adeaska SQ2 it came up to 4.2V.

Like your battery holder Tom :+1:

whats your safety timer setting?
deeper discharge=longer charge time.
