No, CRI70 doesn’t kill my eyes. I’m not sure if the flashlight I received recently even gets 70. Yes, I would like it to be better but no, I wouldn’t be happy to halve the output for the sake of superb spectrum.

It all depends on use.
In bathroom / kitchen I’d like the highest CRI I could get.
In most other rooms CRI97 is good enough even with dips in the spectrum. In general I would prefer more but now price becomes an important factor.
In more portable cases (desk lamp f.e.) wattage becomes a limit. Get a bit worse spectrum for 50% higher peak output?….for most uses even SOL would be powerful enough but I would be happy to support the rare cases when I want to use the lamp as a moving head. Evil

Blue peak and turquoise cavity kill your eyes.

CRI is also bullshit! Because final value calculated only from 8 indexes. R9 not in the final value. R9 – it is tits of your wife/girl, I mean skin color and sexual.

I have head flashlight with SunLike COB. I will never use another!

MORE PHOTOS

With ordinary LEDs (without violet spectrum) retroreflective elements do not work!

With SunLike they shine! It is not safe use light without violet spectrum on the road! It is a crime!

I’m not a fan of CRI metric either. I wish that there was a commonly used alternative that was better. The alternatives hardly see any use…but it doesn’t matter for the sake of this discussion.

You found a case where high CRI lights of typical construction are clearly distinguishable from sunlight.
That’s interesting.
But that’s not something I deal will all day long either. And so this may be a factor in making a decision – but definitely not a very important one.

If for a couple of bucks more I can get 50% more light in my laundry room – that’s a big deal.
Your bulbs are not cheap. I find it fair, I am prepared to pay for quality. But if I can keep electrical quality and get 40% more lm/$ for my shed or laundry room – is seems like a worthwhile deal.

I agree it’s unpleasant. But the evidence seems conflicted. There are even “Therapy Lights” that feature a blue peak to treat Seasonal Affective Disorder.

Luminous efficacy/efficiency, as a metric, is hardly of help for high colour accuracy led emitters. High colour accuracy emitters must emit specific spectral power distributions whose “efficiency” will always be lower than crap CRI/colour accuracy ones, no need to be a genius to understand this. If you want maximum efficiency grab a monochromatic 540 nm source and that will net 683 lm/W, or a 507 nm one for 1699.5 lm/W according to the Wikipedia article figures. Hope you like the corresponding colour accuracy to your eyes/mind.

High “efficiency” and high colour accuracy cannot be in the same sentence unless we change some definitions and/or humanity gets a massive mental reprogramming in this particular respect (there are far more pressing matters).

Some custom boost driver, that's for sure.

scientific publication (use translator) LINK

With not an ought turquoise spectrum, pupil diaphragm malfunctioning, because brightness is defined by the eye as the brightness of a turquoise spectrum

YES!

about led driver for head flashlight. Custom boost driver with micro-controller will created by lampman’s helper. It is really difficult to do it in real. He will sell it for 30-50$ per 1 pcs. It will be about 95% effective.

Agro excuse me, but I will never do led bulbs with ordinary “white” leds, only lamps for plants! (even it is more cheaper with w/$ and lx/$) Because ordinary “fake white” LED’s spectrum is NOT HEALTHY! And my lamps must work years, even if no – it is easy to repair it, and some one can start use it not in the shed or laundry room

I can’t find it, sorry.
But it’s very interesting to me, i love the idea of a super CRI COB headlamp.

I’m not having very good luck here. I ordered a Sunlike bulb on Nov10, about the exact same day Mauka’s shipped. It only has two tracking events, one for “acceptance” on Nov13, and one for “processed through facility” on Nov19. That’s it, it’s been a full month now since the last tracking update. I requested Adam re-ship with the promise I would send a second payment if they both arrived. But he wants to just wait Sad It was just one bulb for trying out and deciding how many to actually order…

Do not worry, you are not alone =)

There is another poor fellow because of cheap ukrain post.

Next step will be in USA, but it can track today or after some days or years =)

As I said, I will never use ukrain post again! Never! Now I am in belarus (BelMORDOR)

Of course no idea what those character strings mean, and can't copy/paste them in a translator.

Looked like it. After uploading the images to Yandex Translate my suspicions were confirmed.

Nah, forget it. At first I thought the right side image was a tracking continuation of the left side one, but now I see it isn't.

So you complain because of 5 - 6 days of time just to leave the country. Wellp, it works and is cheap. That's good.

Concerning COB led related questions, the other day someone shared a SOL1306SXX datasheet with me, where I could see an Vf of ≈34 V and 180 mA of driving current for the rated power. This is fine but there's no datasheets, links to datasheets or any other information of this sort in your site, this is important for anyone aiming to drive these leds. Is the typical Vf of these COBs around the same number?

Thanks.

Usually buyers ask me about characteristics if they can not find datasheet.
I add voltage and maximum current to the names.
SOL and SAW is almost the same. Voltage just a little lower in SOL, but current is bigger.

And what about the higher powered emitters? 12 and 25 W I mean. Do they scale up just in current, i.e. same number of in series crystals?

Yes, just current. Double quantity of crystals. It is 12S

New year, same old tracking data. The shipment was last seen November 19, 2019.

No. You are not alone. 2 of 2 is in the same situation. I think that it is just so slowly shipping by ukrpost.

It is possible they are both lost. You said yourself, you expected mine to delivery in 2-4 weeks after shipment. It’s been 7+ weeks (51 days).
I’m feeling a bit stuck.

I know. To Maukka to Finland it shipped by 2 weeks. To USA still no. But it is only 1 bulb to you and to another. It is not serious reason to fuck my mind because 1 bulb. For example, because 11.11 sales from aliexpress some packages shipped after 3 month, but ussually from the same seller it shipped by 2-4 weeks. Shit happens, but it is not the reason to fuck my mind. And do it in public, I mean this forum.
