CLOSED - Henk4U2 Flashaholic First Aid Kit GAW.

When I look around me I see people who make longer journeys than I do, with considerable smaller suitcases. Metaforically speaking, of course. There is one area however where that feeling is out of place. The area BLF knows as:“Experience the incredible generosity of the BLF community and create or participate in fun giveaways and contests”. From the start I have had my share of prizes. And I want to return those favors. At least from this year on. Call it a quid pro quo. This GAW has one restriction. I will send the prize only to a valid address in Netherland (what PostNL calls “binnen Nederland”). Just because none of my previous GAW’s was ever won by one of my country(wo)men.

About the prize. Call me wrong but new members often buy “big guns” previously only bought by experienced users or people who read manuals. And end up owning a fantastic flashlight sitting unused on a shelf. Never becoming a real flashaholic. Now that’s a dark future for you! To prevent such a thing from happening I am going to give away a Flashaholic First Aid Kit. With a few basic flashlights that might help you to crave for more and better flashlights. What basic flashlights are in this kit?

a/ A Tank007 model E09, twisty H-M-L light. A bit comparable with a VW Beetle. Either they break down before the showroom smell is gone (but replaced by NKON) or they will be your best friend for ever more. Unopened, only tested. I’ll add some of the (High Self Discharge) NiMH AAA batteries the missus bought for her TV remote.

b/ A red S68. Ordered a Sipik, received an Utrafire/CREE. Swapped the emitter with a UV led from Simon, and added a ZWB2 filter. Tail switch, one mode. Only works on LiION batteries. With it you get 2 Trustfire TR14500 900mAh batteries. Don’t you laugh, they outperform the “branded” 14500’s that came with my Olight and my Nitecore. These batteries are unprotected, but that is no biggie because the light will fade to useless before the voltage is down to 3.0V. Then it is time to shut down the light. Be aware that an unattended light (without visible output) can sustain a voltage drop until the battery is really dead.

c/ A Thorfire JM07 26650 light with a full set of spare parts, including a 26650/18650 sleeve. Tailswitch for on-off. Side switch for H-M-L-strobe. Unopened, hardly used. Not a pocket rocket, just a trusted workhorse. Comes with a 5000mAh LiitoKala 26650 battery.

Because I don’t know if the winner already has a charger, I will add a LiitoKala Lii-S1 charger.
The 14500 “Digital Smart Charger” is included because it came with the Trustfire batteries. Never been used.

Want this Flashaholic First Aid Kit? The only thing you have to do is post “I’m IN”. The GAW closes Tuesday December 24th at 23:00h GMT. For me that is midnight local time on Christmas Eve. After Random.Org has drawn your (post) number you have 72 hours time to provide me with a valid address in Netherland and the parcel is on its way. If you are unable to do so, Random.Org will perform the trick one more time. Until we have a valid winner and a valid address.
Since this is my GAW, I’m allowed to alter, or make new, rules if the old ones lead to unclear situations.
Good Luck!!

EDIT: these aren’t lights that burn your house down, but they can be used to turn muggles to the bright side.

Yes, I do!

I hate to see no action on this. Maybe offer some stroopwafels with the kit?

That’s very nice of you, good luck to the Dutch members(:

Just a brief comment, don't SK68 flashlights use boost-linear drivers without li-ion low voltage protection? Of course that… Aaah! You said it only works with li-ion (no boost). In that case there is little or no problem with leaving the flashlight on unattended, the minimum emitter Vf poses a hard limit with respect to minimum cell discharge voltage. Tried it once direct driving a li-ion cell with thin wires to a 219B emitter, took days for the emitter to be barely lit and even then after disconnecting the cell it still climbed to 2.99 V.

Good luck to the contestants.

Like the idea but not the risk of what happens if the syrup melts and hits the fan.

If it’s alright with you, I will replace the silica gel with a packet of Fisherman’s Friends :innocent:

Sounds great to me.

Did you know they export those to China?

Henk4U2, that is a wonderful kit! That JM07 is still one of my favorite lights, it is not a hot rod so you get great runtime and it has pretty good throw numbers. I did put a 4C in mine.

That is a wonderful way to kick off a flashaholic!

Fisherman’s Friend is a good thing to have around heading into winter.

I’m in

Edit: I’m out. I was trying to win this for a friend in the Netherlands but he just moved to Colombia. I am sending him one of my FW3As.

Hope that nobody is offended, but I felt a certain need to bump up my post. :frowning:

I’m IN :+1:

I’m not in because I ’m well provided with the kind of items that are offered.
Just a bump for the only ever NL-giveaway on BLF

That’s very pollite Jos! It’s exactly the reason i didn’t enter as well, there are people around that need those lights harder then we do.

Bump for Hollanders!

Hi Henk, how nice of you to start 2 giveaways!

Real kickstarter kit with a nice variation of lights. I’m tempted to join, but I see your point and enthusiasm to get more slightly less experienced members into various lights and potential future modding.

I think I started off with the Fandyfire UV-S5 in 2013. Funny enough it’s one of the few lights I didn’t mod.

Then I discovered “pocket rockets” and knew I had to push the envelope myself :innocent:

Couldn’t have done it without BLF!

I’m in.

However, I wont keep the ‘first aid kit’ I will give it to my dad for Christmas. He keeps ‘borrowing’ my lights, he takes them and puts them in his own pocket after use instead of putting them back :disappointed: :person_facepalming:

Hee Henk, gefeliciteerd met de (bijna) 3000 !

Not that i don’t have enough flashlights and parts yet (hmmm… never enough parts though…), but i kind of like that Thorfire, so count me in. :+1:

A bump for the Dutch.

Goed punt Jerommel. Ik heb nog geen GAW gewonnen en vind er ook wel mooie dingen tussen zitten. Altijd al een Sipik (of lookalike) willen modden en die tank kan naar m’n zoontje. Dus als het nog kan:

I’m in!

Edit: Nice pic Brad. It’s kinda confusing isn’t it. And we speak Dutch, not to be confused with Deutsch. .
