Well, I still have the project of putting an SST-90 reflector into a 2D Maglite, but that's waiting parts, so I have to do something. Problem is, money... So I found a couple inexpensive lights that I can do a simple? Mod or two on.
This "Shower Head" light takes four AAA batteries and the head is just right for a Maglite shallow reflector and an emitter that will handle 4AAA NiMHs direct. I only know of one that will take full voltage and not fry. I have used them long ago.... Say "D" bin.
These two will work for possibly an XR-E or some other mid-range Cree. With 3AAA batteries, they should work fine. Possibly one for a thrower and one for a flooder.
Of course, it would not be complete without a Maglite. Here's a 2AA Mag, what can I do to mutilate this one?
Oh, I think you can guess.......... but just in case........
My rendition of the human lathe! I need to practice this, since the 2D Mag will be a cut down shortie, so why not play with this 2AA?
I have to get a larger cutter (Sears I believe), but this Dremel cutter worked just fine, with the stone to clean it up a little. Finer sandpaper will smooth it off later.
That's it for now, just so y'all don't think I could quit. I will try hard to never again make the mistake of venting on this site, but I hate to stop making flashlights, since it's about the only thing I have to keep from going ballistic for real.
Later.........
