In other news, I will be placing the order for the GT90 conversion kits on Monday. While I plan to order a few extra kits I can’t afford to be left holding a bunch of them.

So If you are interested, let me know.

I would be interested in 2 Bare MCPCB and 2 Drivers **… **IF possible ..

. In other news… found some of those lighted tail switch white plastic washer’s that are a bit oversize .008” to the I.D. of the centering device. The white washer I.D. is snug 5/16” so I spun it up in the drill press using a 5/16 bolt with the head cut off and 2-5/16” nuts (home made arbor) to trap it. Left about .002” press to the I.D. of the centering device.

It pressed fit in nicely..tight enough to drill out….???????????

I would not like to use a fitting centerpiece and have that heavy reflector banging on the solder joints, but rather glue the existing black reflector positioner on the MCPCB.

How would you center the centering block to the LED? Go off the MCPCB holes to the Block?

Thought about drill/ream for 4mm dowels .The block, MCPCB (is really close to 4mm so a slight ream should do it) and the body of the light. Some short 4mm dowels to locate it all, and then just the clamping force of the reflector to hold everything down.

this will do for now…

Not planning on mounting it to a Howitzer… Silly

Looks like they are finally getting ready to ship out the GT90 kits late this week or next week, I once again decided to pay the extra for express shipping due to all the covid congestion on normal mail, so we will see when they arrive.

Looks like I will have 4 extra kits for sale based on the current numbers, so anyone that wants a GT90 conversion kit, let me know! I highly doubt this will happen again.

I don’t think so, the code still works but I think the price is $300 now.

It is a bit over 5000, they inflated the numbers for the advertising at lumintop it seems.

The VOB review video shows the numbers he got.

I keep hoping to have an official update to post but they have been real quite about the GT90 kits the last few weeks sadly.

They said they would be shipping out “next week” over a month ago. Then I got a message saying that they are missing 1 part to the kit and they will ship as soon as it is back in stock. I have asked repeatedly for more details ever since but nothing solid yet other then they will ship when they get the parts.

So they should still show up at some point but no idea when at this point. Good thing I don’t take payments before having items ready to ship unless I truly can’t help it lol.

When they do show up, I think there are 2 kits left unspoken for.

Hope you are including me for 2 of these? Think you told me that a while back.

Is there a way to calibrate the temperature reading in the GT90? Or do I just set the limit higher to compensate? Mine reads out 14 degrees higher than it should. Also, is the thermal expansion clicking normal?

And props to Neal, mine arrived in 2 days from Hong Kong. Never expected that.

I don’t have this model, but it seems to use the common NarsilM.

You’re not able to calibrate the internal temperature reading. That is no big deal since it’s just a number.

NarsilM doesn’t rely on numbers for the step down temperature. You set it based on how hot you feel the light getting. So you would go into the menu and choose the step-down setting that you want. This could be a time setting or a temperature based setting or you could turn it off completely. If you choose temperature, the light will turn on in Turbo mode and you basically just feel it until it gets as hot as you want it to. Then you click the light out of the menu and it will remember that particular temperature (regardless of the actual number). Here is a video on doing this.

I had that thermal expansion clicking noise on my normal GT. So it is quite common.

Thanks, I’ll try to set the limit when I get time to run it long enough to get hot.

It uses the same firmware from the GT70 and GT90, so all the same stuff applies (95% of it also applies to the GT as well).

Correct, simply enable the thermal calibration mode and stop it when it is as hot as you would ever want it to get.

Or just disable the thermal control entirely. The light can handle it, but it could easily burn you if you were to touch it. Also need to make sure you are using good quality cells if you do this.

Sadly I think they are sold assuming everyone pays. If anyone backs out I will let you know.

I was going to wait until they actually arrived this time to say anything but they are supposed to be in the mail to me as of yesterday (pretty sure it was really shipped this time). We will see how long it takes to arrive, I paid for DHL shipping so if they used DHL it could be here next week.

I will send messages to everyone once they are here and verified ready for me to ship out.

True DIY spirit there. Thumbs Up

Been awhile since I have really dug into a light like that, in some ways I miss it and in some ways I have had my fill lol.

Closest thing I have done recently was a custom GT90 I built for a member on here back before the GT90 was released except with a wavien and aspheric lens. I am actually kinda surprised no one spotted my prototype version of it in the family picture above, it is subtle.

Thumbs Up Now that you mention it, that bezel is not standard!

Any info on that?

Not really at this time, the project is sorta finished as I could not get the wavien collar focused perfectly due to the wires being in the way.

The only real option for fixing it is going with a smaller mcpcb that would fit inside the collar but then the wires would still be an issue.

I got it to like 90% of perfect focus and it was determined it was good enough for now. If I can find a 20mm sbt90.2 mcpcb I might work on it some more at some point.

Throw was pretty good on it, forgot the exact numbers but it was WELL north of 2MCD IIRC.

I could buy it,from BG or Neal, together with the batteries, but it is insane to buy a new charger,as I already have 4 of them, having ordered today the new Miboxer charger with the coupon..
I prefer BG because they have a special delivery option, which is way better for me.If Neal can,as with the BLF GT,(which I bought from him),to use the same system, then I could through Neal as well.
