I’m glad to enter this year in the new modified light category of the seventh BLF Old Lumens Contest 2019.
Description of the project
I would like to fit the 18 led MCPCB and optics of an Astrolux MF01S inside a Convoy L6. I will mix LH351D 90 CRI 4000K and 5000K leds on the board. The flashlight will be driven by a Lexel Anduril driver. Also I’m planning to put an aux led board from Lexel underneath the MF01 optic.
The host
The host is a Convoy L6 clone from Wainlight, bought on Taobao. Apart from the brown color there is no difference to the real Convoy L6, completely the same host. So I will refer to it as Wainlight L6.
Material
Here you can see the material that I have so far:
The MCPCB and optics have been ordered from the Mateminco store on Aliexpress (Link).
The LH351D’s are from AEDe’s group buy here on BLF.
What I already have:
- Wainlight L6 host
- MF01S copper MCPCB
- MF01S optics
- 9 pcs LH351D 5000K 90CRI
What I will need:
- 30mm Lexel Anduril driver (arrived)
- Sofirn Q8 switch (arrives soon)
- 9 pcs LH351D 4000K 90CRI (arrived)
- MF01 aux led board from Lexel (arrived)
- Copper or aluminium for a spacer (arrived)
Preliminary suitability check
These are some teaser pics of what the finished flashlight will look like. The PCB is empty and has been put inside the L6 to see how it works out. Note that the PCB and optics of the MF01S fit the L6 like a glove, as if they had been made for it. You need a spacer underneath, though.

Mod details will be added to the posts below. Stay tuned!
