CRX CuTi R8 runtimes:
Not too bad regulated output though no sign of LVP, the light just dimmed, cell removed at 2.7v.
So I thought I would try the variable SST-40 Convoy driver along with the Osram KW CSLPM1.TG 5400K emitter with this build.
I used an aluminium pill which was not the best choice with the thin titanium body, forgot about that.
The light was originally meant to just be plain titanium but it produced far too much heat as the convoy driver has no thermal monitoring, forgot about that too :D
So I had to add some more mass to the light somehow and that took the form of eight copper rings which helps a bit.
The light can run hand held comfortably at 1.4A current which gives around 400lm.
Turbo can run for around a minute before it needs kicked down to prevent meltdown on a full cell but can go longer with some depletion later on.
Quite a nice simple driver.
The first two modes of the driver are current variable via a ramping system and the modes are accessed like this:
Mode 1 - Single click On.
Mode 2 - Single click On, Double half press
Mode 3 - Single click On, Triple half press
I have it set up like this at the moment:
Mode 1 - 405lm (1.4A)
Mode 2 - 1080lm (6A) - 30s - 920lm, 60s - 865lm
Mode 3 - 27lm (0.05A)
Lights are like children, once you've created them, you can name them whatever you want :)) :THUMBS-UP:
