IKEA STORHAGA LED Rechargeable dimmable lantern

Anyone seen/have the new LED lantern from IKEA?

Couldn’t find it on UK site, here’s a link on IKEA Netherlands site.

Took some poor quality photos, will upload later.

Edit to add photos:

High:

Low:

Base of the lamp, illustrates deep ‘well’ where the Micro-USB resides:

Overall, finish of the lantern is quite nice, the CCT is nice and warm (2700K?), The user interface is nice and the ramping smooth, however, I didn’t buy one for following reasons:

1) Although rechargeable (micro-USB), the port is buried deep inside the base of the product, plugging in the cable is very difficult.

2) Capacity is only 3x AA NiMh cells, I can’t imagine run time would be fantastic.

3) Dimmer knob is a bit close to the lamp, it’s not that comfortable to use.

4) Dimmer knob also controls on/off, the lantern switches on at (in my opinion) too high a low mode.

5) Turned up to highest level, the lantern isn’t particularly bright, given this is aesthetic lighting, rather than task lighting, I suppose this is to be expected.

Individually, each of these isn’t a deal breaker but together I couldn’t justify the cost.

A real shame as I would love a great looking, dimmable, rechargeable lantern.

This thread needs a pic:

Output=55lumen, and runs for 12 hours on 3 AA rechargables.
Rather bulky, with limited output, but it looks pretty.

Beautiful, thanks for showing. Too high a low mode doesn’t sound as if I want it on the nightstand :weary:

I didn’t see the lumen output until djozz posted the 55lm figure from the website, I was going to guess that low was 50 and high 150 lm.

In the shop, high did seem brighter than 55lm, maybe I was fooled because looking at a light source is always going to look brighter than doing a ceiling bounce,

I’m a bit surprised that the low mode is too high, ikea tends to test their products in real life situations, it would have been easy to find out that people would also want to use it as a nightlight, in which case it should go as low as 1 lumen (or less for some).
