[4K Review] Laulima TODAI - Custom flashlight review

Rip-off, EDC masterclass or shelf queen?

EEEWWW that engraving! In fact isn’t the whole clip is mis - shaped ?
You would think taking into account the price of the light they would have at least made sure it was correct and looked good before shipping - was the guy blind?! especially as you are a known well regarded reviewer?
I think it’s a bit of a poor show, granted he offered to replace it, but it shouldn’t have gone out the doors like it? Lets face it, it’s pretty bad workmanship to slap on an exotic $665+ light.
If it were a $40 Chinese light, people would have complained - a $665+ one - defo. I’d expect nothing less than a hand made, perfectly fitting one for that price - and engraved perfectly - it is not hard, I used to do it for a living.
It only ended up like that because someone didn’t take care - worse still they didn’t correct it and put it in the ‘pass’ section - they MUST have noticed it!
Not the best advert for such a premium light. I have to say it almost looks ‘cast’ to me rather than turned/machined - then machined after, I doubt very much it is though.
Thanks for showing it though, and I’m sure you’ll enjoy it! :+1:

I asked Mitch if he could underline it to make it look centred but he said it’d be too tricky. Current climate I guess.
I did inform him I was going to review it but I’m on a bit of a bad run with lights.

Too tricky! it’s done by machine, all you need to do is mount it in the right place - more so, mount it centred!
More like carelessness to me - when I think the the stuff I used to have to engrave on by hand lol, and he can’t write straight on a flat bit of metal when a machine is doing it!
This is a pretty high end light - you could compare it to say a Ferrari in car world - imagine your new ferrari turned up with ‘Ferrari’ written crooked on the crooked badge……… :stuck_out_tongue:

This made me chuckle - ‘Every machined item I offer has been crafted with the utmost attention to detail.’ RIGHT

Shame, the engraving wasn’t an expensive addition but I get a lot of custom work done like shirts and mugs etc and it’s rarely perfect. The tradesman are dying out.

Same in the car universe, I’ve had so many crap car tunes and iffy performance part fitments.

Just noticed this on their Facebook page it looks like the CNC guy they use tends to do all the engraving misaligned, everything I’ve seen engraved Inc the pocket clip choice advert looks slightly off like it’s been stamped. I’m not sure if it’s intentional for effect or not.

Some of the ltd edition ones look nice
