A203 Titanium/Brass/Copper AAA light on AE

I just ordered this little copper light:

Edit: here is a US/dollars link to AE

According to comments the tint is rather warm.
If it’s fine i may well order the brass version too…

Anyone already have one?

Cool find.

CREE-XPE2-7C1 is 3000k above BBL.

review says
” flashlights only have one level, not three 03 Feb 2020 07:50 ”

so please confirm

darksucks in California also markets that body style, with a different LED and Driver

hi, does anyone know if “purple brass” means copper?

Most likely yes. Chinese often don’t distinguish brass and copper, except for the colour.

Thanks I did order one. hope it’s pure copper.

I wish there was a nickel plated alu variant…

Recently I ordered this flashlight in brass and copper. It should arrive soon.

It does not ship right away.
“Ships in 10 days” for my order.
No hurry though…

Apparently there has been a damascus or other mixed metal alloy available, but it seems to be sold out everywhere? I haven’t seen a plain Al either - except in the shop mentionned above (darksucks).

I’m sick of these AE knockoffs. Pure DarkSucks Beta. Freaking shait

bear in mind darksucks does not make the beta, it is made in China

darksucks is just a reseller for that light… first they used Lumintop to build them, then Jason got upset that Lumintop released a Cu Worm (different tail and mode sequence)

That would be like ReyLight getting upset when Lumintop built him a CuTool with LMH, and then released their own version w MLH…

Rey still sold all his special run lights.

so now Prometheus Betas are made by Olight, and the hosts are showing up on AE…

the ones on AE are single mode only… not the same driver as the darksucks build

it is hard to protect intellectual property, while still using Chinese manufacturing… especially when the USA vendor is more than doubling the price… but he still has a unique product, since his lights are multi mode…

It eventually got delivered today.

It comes in the original Prometheus Beta QRV2 package but the logo is not etched onto the head. Included are instructions, spare o-ring and clip. The tint is indeed very warm but it does have three modes. It is pure heavy copper - including the keychain ring attachment.

congratulations!
does it use LMH mode sequence?
and how many lumens is each level?

LMH but no idea about lumen…

Would be nice to be able to mod this with another driver and emitter. Since it doesn’t have the Prometheus logo I would not feel too bad for supporting a fake.

I do not think it is a fake.

imo it sounds like the factory that darksucks used to build the Beta, has a surplus of inventory to resell under their own label.

you may know darksucks got pissed at Lumintop when they came out with the CU Worm, which looks to be made from similar plans as the Beta (because darksucks outsourced production to Lumintop)

so afaik, darksucks moved their production to Olight, after acquiring the brand 47s

iow, I speculate the lights on Aliexpress are no longer contract lights built for darksucks, they are orphans, without the logo, or overproduction, if you will

LMH is a very popular mode sequence… and Im glad to hear it is a warm LED offering. Im guessing it is moddable to 219b… for higher CRI Lovers. The price is not that low, I would put the Cu Tool up against the Beta, since I prefer the tailswitch over a twisty…

enjoy your choices

Yeah but these lights are not their original design and even ships in the same box as the real thing with logos and all, to me that makes it a fake. If it didn’t ship in the Prometheus light packaging then it would be considered as a unauthorized oem.

In China there are very few “surplus” situations because small scale production can easily started at any given time. Factory over run and factory reject and very common sales pitch for counterfeit items. These obviously aren’t surplus because they’re produced in the Damascus version which the original isn’t. They had the design for a flashlight that sells well and they kept producing it, minus the logo to not get into more trouble.

You can also find The Kappa QR keychain in copper or titanium for $9 all over AE. This is an original darksucks design.

Some time ago AE stopped selling Jeff Hanko clones, these are still available in all sorts of emitter and aux leds flavors, copper, aluminum and titanium, Apparently they sell very well to local buyers on the Chinese eBay. Maybe there was a dispute but AE still carries all sorts of counterfeit ZT, Chris Reeves and other big name brand knives clones.

OK, I understand your point of view

I bought a Cu Beta from darksucks.
It was my first High CRI experience and I am grateful for that.
Im less happy about the fact that it cost 3x more than the ones in this thread.

politics and economics aside

I enjoyed this Lego

Sold the Beta when I saw PWM in a photo I took with it, and adopted the CuWorm head instead, because it had No PWM

I wonder if the present model is PWM free… seems like a nice light… in other regards

Im impressed with the selection of metals too

Fast moving a finger in the beam does not show PWM on any mode, so either there aren’t or its faster then you can perceive.

Ugh, I keep coming back to this thread. That titanium one is calling my name.

I don’t need another flashlight… I don’t need another flashlight… I don’t need another flashlight…

And the knockoff thing… yeah, I get it. I don’t love that aspect of it. But there is no way I’m spending $125 on a AAA light. Just isn’t happening. $25… yeah, I can do that. Either way, darksucks wouldn’t be getting my money. Nothing personal agent him (them?), it’s just not worth it to me.
