EC4GT $35 illumn

https://www.illumn.com/nitecore-ec4gt-xp-l-hi-1000-lumens.html

Just bought 2, seems like a good thrower with great heat sink and battery life… might have to have one of you talented gents swap in a updated LED. Thumbs Up

I had one for years and it served me extremely well. One of the very few flashlights to maintain full output until the battery gives up, no thermal step down. Led swapping is a bit challenging and XP-L HI is a pretty solid choice for this reflector and driver output.

I sooooooo want one… or two… but I’m looking at my arrangements of “coffee-table lights” of all kinds, and bit my fingers instead.

Good going!

You can run it full blast and it will maintain output without dimming! And has TRUE mode memory! It’s one of my favs! They just need an SST-20 in there and to re-release it!

Leave your fingers alone and go buying it. In Germany, it costs 85 EUR Facepalm

Smile, you cannot kill them all.

Thats a killer deal. Nitecore has very efficient drivers. I wonder how hard is it to access the mcpcb to change out the emitter.

Had to goggle reviews before pulling the trigger, but one said it was “pure white”, so I’m guessing it’s not too hideously Angry Blue™. Maybe a bit perturbed, but…

Looks (intentionally) difficult to disassemble/modify, so I’ll likely leave it alone.

I’m wondering why the eerie beam, though. Rather distinct bullseye. Nice tight hotspot, yellowish corona, bright spill for the innermost half, fainter spill for the remainder.

Not really Angry Blue, though, which is nice. Still fried-eggy, but on balance it looks rather neutral. Might benefit from diffusion film as an around-the-house light.

Got to test them out last night. Very impressed for the size and runtime. was lighting up the neighborhood roof tops very well at 2-300 yards will take it out soon for some longer range testing. For the runtime, build quality and amount of throw I am very impressed. My non flashlight fan wife picked it up and worked out the UI in about 5 seconds with not a word from me. Might have to order one for my dad that he can fill with primary and reach out and see what’s going on in the back of the property.
Thanks Illumn!

Actually, I was gonna gift one to someone but decided against it, ‘cause it’s not a good light for The Muggle.

First, 2 series cells can go so bad, so fast, even if the cells are protected. Draining to 2.whatever volts before it kicks in isn’t too healthy for the cells.

Second, you gotta remove and charge 2 cells, preferably in a 2-bay charger.

Third, you gotta put in the cells the right way (look down the hole, see where the spring is, orient the cells, then load ‘em), and then orient the tailcap properly as well.

Last, while it can blink out battery status, unscrewing and rescrewing the cap isn’t the friendliest way to do it.

None of this is a problem to a flashie, but ain’t for The Muggle.

For countertop usage cr123s would be used instead of 18650s. Your concerns are valid for sure. I wouldn’t give one to my grandpa lol, he got a surefire g2x pro.
