14500 Host Tailcap Screw Position Mystery

Why would a 14500 host put together with compatible parts(driver, led, battery) and the tube in correct position not work with the tailcap tighten down but works fine if one unscrews the tailcap until the last 1-2 threads?

loose retaining ring perhaps.
getting it tight means the battery pushing the spring of switch/driver off retaining ring hence losing contact

Maybe the battery is pushing to hard on the circuit board.

Thanks for the great tips and as such followed up on the tips provided by testing and then I realized other day that there's a coating put inside on the threads. So I dremeled it off and now it's okay!sealed

Must of been overspray when they applied coating at factory??
