[Review] Olight Warrior X PRO by Video_Italia_Review

WATCH THE UNBOXING / TEST

In this review we will see in detail the Olight WARRIOR X PRO torch, the new version of the WARRIOR X is characterized by increased power, thanks to a 21700 5000mAh lithium battery included in the package and the integrated charging system that thanks to the cable 2A USB magnetic ensure 100% faster charging than the old Warrior X version. Will this 2250 lumens tactical torch and 600 meters of shooting be suitable for all purposes? Let’s see it together …

I want to clarify that in this review you will simply find my personal impressions and opinions, I am not a technician or engineer expert in electronics or lighting, but a simple passionate user.

I will not test the torch for several reasons, first of all is that the torch in question has already been tested in accredited laboratories with precise and calibrated instruments, with home tests I could confuse your ideas more, so I rely on the data shown in the table measured in accordance with the international standard ANSI / NEMA FL1 using the supplied battery.

The data may vary slightly in real use conditions due to usage habits and environmental conditions.

CONTENT OF THE PACKAGE

As you can see also from the photos, the packaging is very accurate as Olight has accustomed us by now. White box in resistant cardboard, color graphics, front of the torch image, on the back product description with summary table of the technical characteristics.

On the side we find the magnetic opening, once opened, a yellow plastic cover will give us the first indications necessary for the use of our flashlight. We recommend that you remove the internal battery protection and recharge it completely.

The package is full of accessories in fact inside the package we find:

  • Metal clip;
  • Lace,
  • Nylon case;
  • USB charging cable;
  • Battery 21700,
  • Anti-roll ring,
  • Tactical silicone ring,
  • User manual (also in Italian).

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

Once the plastic protection for the battery has been removed, and having fully recharged it, we can start enjoying our beloved flashlight.

We pay attention to position the battery with the positive (+) end facing the head. Fortunately, even if distracted we will insert the batteries in reverse, the Warrior X Pro will not work thanks to the protection of the integrated circuits, on the side of the handle, just below the metal clip, we find an icon that will indicate the right direction to insert the battery.

User interface

The torch as you can see from the photos is equipped with a single button placed in the tail “Tail Switch”, identical to that which we also find on the M2R Warrior PRO made entirely of metal because it will also act as a magnetic charging interface as we will see better later.

The user interface is very simple because this flashlight has been designed for immediate and purely tactical use, in fact we will not have the possibility of configurations, we will not have special modes, S.O.S, strobe or beacom, but only 2 levels of intensity:

  • LOW - 300 lumens - 8 hours - 220 meters
  • HIGH - 2250/1000/300 lumens - 2/100/23 minutes - 600meters

So as you can read, the HIGH light intensity will generate 2250 lumens for 2 minutes, after which we will have a step down to 1000 lumens for 1000 minutes and finally a further step down to 300 lumens for 23 minutes.

However, we have two ways to activate the torch.

If we keep the button pressed the torch will be activated and when it is released it will turn off, to be precise, if we hold the button halfway down we will enable the LOW intensity, if we keep it pressed fully we will enable the High mode and when we release it it will turn off, instead, if we click and quickly release the button, we will enable the torch in ON / OFF mode, to be precise if we click and quickly release the button halfway we will enable the LOW intensity, if we click and quickly release the button all the way down we will enable High mode by clicking the button again we will turn off the flashlight.

RESIDUAL CHARGE INDICATOR

This fantastic flashlight has a residual charge indication system different from the usual, in fact it does not have the visual indication of residual charge as in the M2R Pro Warrior model reviewed in the past on this blog (click here for the review), but it will indicate the charge residual via vibration, a system designed for tactical use, in fact if we mount our Warrior X PRO on a rifle, we do not have the opportunity to see the status LED, but we will have the opportunity to feel the vibration, a brilliant system.

When the residual charge is less than 30% the torch will vibrate every 5 minutes, if the residual charge is less than 10% it will vibrate every minute, if the residual charge is less than 5% it will vibrate every 10 seconds.

CHARGING METHOD

This fantastic tactical flashlight, thanks to a built-in charging module, has the ability to quickly recharge the lithium-ion batteries that we insert inside, through the metal button located in the tail.

In the package you will find a new generation 2A USB cable that increases the charging speed compared to the old generation by 100%, with a magnetic support that will attach to the tactical tail button and recharge our flashlight, as you can see, on the support magnetic, we find an LED that will indicate the state of charge, red LED = battery charging, green LED = battery charged.

I really appreciate the possibility of charging the battery in such a simple and fast way, we don’t have to open any hood, we don’t have to put any cable in the right direction, we just have to bring the magnetic support closer and … TAC you’re done, the battery will be charging . FANTASTIC!!!

HOW IS IT COMPOSED?

The aircraft-grade aluminum alloy body, 3mm tempered glass lens and the blue stainless steel bezel make this flashlight indestructible.

The body of the torch is made of super resistant aeronautical aluminum alloy, for technical lovers, the AL6061-T6 aluminum alloy also called Aeronautical aluminum, is made thanks to two consecutive heat treatments: solubilization and artificial aging. The T6 heat treatment is able to increase the resistance of aluminum and increase the wear resistance, for non-technicians like me the body of this torch is highly resistant to shocks and scratches, you can see my little test in the Unboxing video or in the GIF below, where I tried to scratch the torch first with a knife and then with a stone, but I just need to clean it with my fingertip to make it look like new.

The body of the torch is characterized by a very pronounced raised texture that increases its grip even with wet hands or if we wear gloves.

Equipped with IPX8 protection, therefore it resists dives up to 2 meters, the magnetism of the button in the tail has been much improved compared to the previous version which guarantees a much more resistant anchorage. As you can see from the video test, it can be used as a lamp to illuminate the engine compartment in case of failure of our car, or it can be connected to any metal surface.

The head is characterized by particular rings that help heat dissipation, in what we find an anti-roll ring to which we can fix the supplied lace, also we have the possibility to remove it and leave room for a tactical non-slip silicone ring for more use stable.

FIRST USE IMPRESSIONS

The very first thing we do when we pick up the Warrior X PRO is to unscrew the button in the tail to access the battery, and it is from these very first actions that we can realize the quality of the product and the professionalism of Olight. The thread is perfect, we do not feel any friction also because it already comes well oiled allowing a soft and pleasant sliding.

As soon as we take the Warrior X PRO in hand, we immediately notice its solidity, it seems an indestructible weapon, Olight has accustomed us to a very high quality, the construction materials and the assembly are really excellent. It holds really well, it is perfectly balanced, very comfortable to use.

The tactical button in the tail is very nice, characterized by raised punches to increase stability during the magnetic fixing phase, it is also large enough for optimal use even if we wear gloves, the feedback is fantastic.

The manufacturer declares that the light beam reaches a distance of 600 meters in HIGH mode, I remind you how this data is detected: the distance at which the torch will emit a light intensity of 0.25lux that will be the maximum distance.

From my video test you can see how the Warrior X PRO manages to illuminate abundantly an antenna that was more than 300 meters from me, or how with the HIGH mode it easily manages to illuminate that portion of the house that can be seen in the middle of the trees. 300 meters from me, a really fantastic shot.

BATTERY
A 21700 5000mAh battery is supplied with a value of about € 30 if purchased separately. It is a very powerful battery that guarantees really long autonomies, about 2 hours in High mode and 8 hours in LOW mode.

As already mentioned before we have the possibility to recharge the battery by removing it from the flashlight and placing it in a charger (not supplied) but it is always advisable to take advantage of the built-in charging module and thanks to the magnetic USB cable supplied, recharge our battery by connecting the cable where it is most convenient, even to a powerbank, or to the USB port of our PC.

TINT AND BEAMSHOTS

The main light reflector is smooth but really powerful in fact the cone has a maximum diameter of 30mm and a depth of 40mm which creates an emission beam of 60 degrees.

As you can see in the video test, the SPILL (peripheral portion of the light beam) is totally exploitable and falls approximately 2 meters from our feet, the SPOT (central portion of the light beam) is very narrow and is much more intense than the SPILL , classic of shooting torches. The color of the light beam is neutral white tending to warm, very pleasing to the eye.

WHAT I LIKE (specific analysis in the conclusions):

  • Striking shot,
  • Battery life,
  • Resistance,
  • Construction and attention to detail,
  • Magnetic USB charging,
  • Nylon case.

WHAT I DON’T LIKE (specific analysis in the conclusions):

  • It has no defects.

CONCLUSIONS (pros and cons analysis)

The shooting of this torch is truly spectacular, the fully exploitable spill and the warm white coloring of the beam are extremely pleasant to use. Beautiful nylon case with magnetic closure, really comfortable, once worn on our belt it will be easy to take the flashlight or store it with one hand.

The presence of the residual vibrating charge indicator, ideal for tactical use on the rifle, is really appreciated. Many could say that the presence of only 2 light intensities is a major flaw, but we are not taking into account the field of use for which it was designed. It is a purely tactical flashlight, designed for professional use, for hunting, for military use and for law enforcement, it is equipped with only 2 light intensities to make everything easier, those who will use this flashlight do not need any mode special, but it needs an extremely reliable, resistant and powerful product and the Olight Warrior X PRO is all this and more.
