I’m serious. My cat’s a total crack head for the laser on my infrared thermometer. I understand it needs to be super low power so you don’t fry/blind your cat… But are there any ones that aren’t cheap garbage? The laifoo one seems at least decent?

I dont really like amazon because most sellers lie about specs so they can sell them in unsafe ranges

don’t they have those tabletop lasers for cats? I know they run with 3x AA but you can use rechargeables with it
PetSafe Automatic Laser or Playdot!
Grab some usb rechargeable AA and it’ll run

“Don’t worry. I’ll go with you! So you just follow me and no arguing, okay?”
I got a few 2×AA laser pointers from Harbor Freight decades ago for like 7bux each. Kinda borderline, as one works fine with eneloops whereas the other one needs just a scootch more voltage.
Or get a LFP cell (3.2V) and dummy cell.
(Don’t try Li-ion in a 3V laser, though.)

Believe me, any time I try and cheese off being an active participant in playtime… Our snowshoe siamese just stares at me like “you’re not getting out of this one… Play with me!”

I have a decent laser pointer but it is pretty old. It runs well on Eneloops. Eneloops have solved a lot of life challenges for me. For instance, I’ve been using rechargeable electric toothbrushes for years. They never last long and the internal battery seems to be the culprit. So I bought a cheap one that runs on a pair of AA cells. I loaded it with Eneloop Pros. Not only has it outlasted every previous model I’ve owned, it is doing so with consistent performance.
Cats and flashaholics are so similiar. Look at that hotspot, look, look, look, daaamn gotta get that, gotta get that.
Get one of these, sit back, enjoy the show…

i would not try to include recharging on the laser pointer
they do not really use a lot of power
removing the cells every 2 months to charge, is not that onerous
