Is banggood a legit business?

I ordered 2 Convoy S2+ from Banggood (or are they just a platform for others to sell things?) back on March 30th.

The order tracking says:

april 15 - order accepted
May 11 - Processed Through Facility
May 11 - Origin Post is Preparing Shipment, We have received notice that the originating post is preparing to dispatch this mail piece.

I’ve emailed them through their website twice this week asking what’s going on with this and haven’t heard back. Any advice? Should I file a dispute with the credit card company? I bought these on sale for something like 10.50 each. Did they decide they don’t want to sell at that price?

Thanks!

BG are generally ok until it comes to problems/broken stuff, then it can be a bit of a lottery help wise. Certainly one of the more reliable shops in my experience.
Give it another couple of weeks I would. Shipping is all upside down at the moment. You could expect to wait a month normally sometimes more, sometimes less, so it’s not massively slow so far.
If there’s no movement then and BG don’t respond with anything useful other than stalling for more weeks (which is likely) then take it further.

The direct answer is: yes, Banggood is a legit business, in the sense that you almost always will receive what your ordered. But it is also an authentic chinese shop: delivery can take a week, or a month and they will not keep you updated which one it is, and communication with them can be fruitless.

Yeah, never lost any packages and I’ve ordered from them several times.
They are huge, kinda like a chinese amazon.
You should always be prepared to wait a few months when ordering from them, especially now with COVID.
It’s a chinese company, and the cost of stuff is super low because they use slow shipping and other cost saving measures.
If you wanted something fast you should have bought from the US.

As others have said, shipping is especially messed up now with the pandemic. I ordered from banggood right around the same time as you.
4-13 order placed
4-16 arrived in Shenzhen transfer station
5-11 handed over to airline
5-17 airline departed
5-21 arrived in Chicago

The only thing you can do is just be patient.

It depends on your definition of “legit business.” Just paraphrasing what others have said, but yeah, they are. I’ve ordered from them lots of times, and almost always got what I ordered.

Does that mean they have customer service and speed like Amazon.com or walmart.com? Nope. It’s different than what the average U.S. consumer has come to expect (dunno where you are). Some people can deal with that. But not everybody can make the shift to Chinese business practices and the language barrier.

Shipping from China is worse than average right now, and average isn’t great. This should not be held against the sender, as the usual routing involves passenger flights that aren’t taking place now.

Not responding to email, on the other hand is pretty unacceptable. If you’re coming up on the deadline for filing a dispute, perhaps you should contact them and tell them you’ll file a dispute if they don’t get back to you (and follow through on that threat if need be).

I like Banggood, but shipping from China right now is taking forever.

I hope you receive your items soon.

Bingo! Let’s just say I never have gotten any warm fuzzy feelings for them….

It’s 6-8 weeks without covid

It’s a huge retailer in communist country. It will take as long at it takes to get to you. Order it, forget you ordered it, be surprised when shows up. It’s like Xmas every few months. Pay with PayPal, if it ever hits 90 days just file a claim. Now if you get a defective or broken item and you file a claim with PayPal be prepared to lose. BG will tell you to send it back and they will happily replace it. Then you go to the post office to send it back and find out it cost $30 to send back your item. If you have a broken item it’s better to talk to BG first before you get PayPal involved. Make your messages to them as simple and to the point as possible. The language barrier sometimes will trip them and you up if the message you send them is long winded and full of non essential information. Ya know, like you are really disappointed or “I really wanted this light for a burglary we are about to do”. They don’t care, they just want to know the problem to fix.

I have only had a few problems with a few lights. Everything was taken care of and I was happy with the results. You will drive yourself crazy trying to keep up with their lack of tracking. This isn’t Amazon so be prepared to wait. If you can’t wait you can usually find stuff stateside for quite a bit more dollars. Sellers on ebay will gladly take your money, and a lot of it, if you can’t wait. You have only been waiting a month. That’s just the way it is. It will come as long as it was in stock. I never buy anything that has 3 days or more of processing time. I wait till it’s 24 hr processing time.

Patience my friend.

Yes, they are legit! I have not had any issues with them besides taking too long for my items to arrive.

My only issue with BG is that their predicted processing times appear fabricated. In-stock items that claim “3 day processing” will not be processed/shipped until weeks later. It’s a pretty minor problem among the range of problems that can occur when ordering from overseas.

.
My experience also. I have ordered many things including flashlights from them with no problems, except a Haikelite MT09R that I never received. 4 to 6 weeks wait for US deliveries if it is in stock. If not in stock, it may take 6 to 8 months to restock if your lucky. AliExpress, FastTech, and Banggood all are very slow to deliver normally. The flashlight things we want can only be purchased at a few places, so we are required to be patient and take whats available.

Just happened today…! Original purchase made on March 15, when received I got an empty box… Long story short, after beating around the bush with many emails…they finally offered refund or reshipment… I wanted the light so choose to reship… They then delayed the shipping another 8 days… I then asked for refund, then got an email saying sorry for delay can’t refund now order being shipped…Several weeks later, “TODAY” I got another JETBEAM M2S EMPTY BOX! I’m done with BANGGOOD! Now to try and get my money back… :person_facepalming: I took a video of opening this time… FedEx guy threw it to me… Light as a feather I knew right away it was empty… Very upset!

Did you use PayPal ?

Hmm, maybe they sent you an MT2S by mistake?

HAHA… MT=Empty… That’s a good one! Yeah, unfortunately that’s exactly what I got…again…!
