Nichia 319A?

Read Texas_Ace’s Review on the Nichia 319A but I’m wondering how it compares to some high CRI options like the SST-20 and the LH319D as far as efficiency and beam characteristics? Specifically, I have a Four Sevens Quark Mkiii QK2A which I’m considering whether I want to replace the LED or not. Very happy with the over all beam profile and really the 319A does a nice job a balancing light quality with efficiency… but I’m a sucker for high CRI and am tempted to swap in either the LH351D 4000k or the SST-20 4000k. How much would that hurt output on turbo? How much throwier would they be than (what I assume in the larger die) 319A?

Surprised nobody has an opinion on this. I know the 319 isn’t a main stream as some other LEDs but certain some have first hand experience!

I will not answer your questions, but I have some comments about this led.
It looks amazing with smooth triple and quad Carclo optics. I have a quad 3500k in D4 and the beam is wonderfully round and the light distribution is perfect for (my) edc.
I also have a 5000k triple in Convoy S6 and although the beam is cut off by the headbezel it also looks round.
According to tests on the Clemence site, only 3500k goes below bbl. I confirm that (in my) leds there is no green and the tint is creamy and slightly pink.
Usually in typical stores we have a choice between high power and low cri (~ 70), or lower power and high cri (90+)
It seems to me that 319a is a good compromise between cri and lumen output. At least for me because there aren’t many available leds with cri 80.
In the future I’m going to do some big multi led flashlight with these leds. I think I already found the host. 21 leds

I’m using it in a non-flashlight project and it’s good. I got the 5000k 70 cri version. It handles 4 amps fine without generat8ng a lot of heat in the project. In a properly focused reflector meant for like a xp-e/g or sst-20 sized emitter, it would do great I think. The hex die would give a very even beam, even better than an sst-20. Although I have a Sofirn sp10s with the 90cri LH351D 5000k and am really liking it! On the 14500 it’s awesome. It is quite floody though.

Prometheus lights just emailed that the are now selling

QUARK QK16L MKIII - SLATE BLUE (16650)
with Nichia 319A.

Interesting emitter—but I don’t really understand using the dated 16650 cell technology…
I suppose they didn’t want to retool the whole light design for 18650…

I have a bunch of Quarks and all I can say is that they are the only lights in this size (16650) but barely bigger than 14500 lights by just a little.

Who didn't try one, better do.

Oh, and new 319A they have, apparently is 4000K 90+CRI. Made by Nichia on Foursevens/Prometheus request...

Ordered one QK16L in slate blue :)

Damn, that light is getting more and more tempting to me (be it in black or state blue).

How usefull do you find it in terms of UI?
Care to post some photos please? (light, beam, …) :innocent:

Also, did you have any trouble in shipping from the US during this time? :+1:
