Preview - Xtar TZ58

This guy arrived today, unannounced from Xtar. Appears to be pre-production; it came out of the envelope like this, with stickers where the graphics will eventually be.

It's an XM-L/18650 with a 3-mode magnetic control ring for low, high and fast strobe . . .

It has an SMO and seems very well made . . .

It has a tactical forward clicky and removeable lanyard ring and clip . . .

It's not much taller than an M6 and the Foyometer says it's just a tad brighter . . .

It's pulling a regulated 2.0 amps on high no matter what battery I use.

This is just a preview; there's a lot more to talk about but I need to EDC this guy at work for a couple of days. I'll do a full review on Saturday but I couldn't resist sharing it.

the knurling on it looks fantastic, especially on the grip.

Tacticool…too bad its a tad underdriven, would be nice at 2.5A.

Nice looker. Can't wait to hear more.

I like it a lot, but it looks expensive. I still can't justify spending big bucks on a single 18650 light when a $10 dollar 504B will do the same thing for a small portion of the price.

Yep. This guy will probably be a bit pricey. It was insured for $87.80 and the TZ20/XM-L is $69.83 so, whatever that means.

I need to firm up a few facts . . . most of what I know right now is guesses and assumptions. I might be completely wrong and this is simply something they had laying around the shop . . . but I don't think so. I think they might slot it in above the TZ55.

I need to learn more about their lineup.

I saw the MSRP listed at $79.99 at one location, $74.99 at another.

For the TZ58? Where did you see it?

I'm sorry - it was the TZ55 for ~$55

The TZ58 pricing was an estimate in an e-mail.
