What driver do I need to run an XHP70 or 70.2?

I am open to running either a 6v on two lithium ions or a 12V on three. I’d like it to run reliably at the recommended current settings. I don’t need any settings other than 100% wide open.

Thanks for any tips or suggestions!

FET driver with a UI that disables thermal throttling or stepdown. Mountain electronics has some good ones, Lexel on this forum does too. You need good heatsinking for the led and driver if doing direct drive.

3S is only 12.6V peak 11.1 nominal so you won’t really get great performance unless you do 4s.

I ran one dd with 2 cells and it burned off the dome. One way to dedome I guess… lol. Looking to maybe do 6v with a driver and 5a if possible.

Not sure how to properly heat sink in a Convoy C8 or clone.

Edit: my 18350s only supply 5A. So I guess that part is easy!

Looks nice. So 8v in reduced to 6v out?

That driver has no current regulation, it just says good up to 10A, but a XHP70.2 on 2 High drain 18650 can easily pull 20A with bypassed springs

Best solution is here a current regulated driver like a Buck driver
I have sold many 12V 6A drivers for XHP70.2 based on TI LM3409 architecture

I have made for a customer which vanished a while ago even a driver that has no MCU at all,
the prototype still lays here on my desk, you can have it dirt cheap

Looks great! I will see if it fits in the convoy or clones. 20, 21, or 22mm?

new 20, 21 and 22mm
